I doubt that's how premiership players see things. Most will back themselves to succeed at any level. Some may be deluded, but you don't reach the top in any sport or business without levels of self belief bordering on delusion.

 

Imo, if they do require a stopper type he has to be a better ball player who doesn't make the occasional bad pass. Morgan would have suited Arsenal and I think he would have been a constant player for them. But Victor isn't Morgan.

 

Whether he's good enough or not to play for a bigger PL team isn't really the issue though. It's that he's only got one year on his contract. I expect that any of the big clubs would be happy to pick him up on a free, even if they were to rarely start him.

If anything it's bad for us that he probably doesn't have all the tools to be a success at, say, Utd or City, or that Spurs seem to have a settled and solid CM now. It's still surely a case of if he doesn't sign, then we have to sell. So the less competition for him, the lower the price we might have to sell at (although no doubt there is a lower limit which we would rather keep him for one more year, than sell him at).

 

Yeah, Sadio is a game changer. I think he's a rare quality player who is going to get better. Occasionally makes the wrong decision and takes on a player when it might have been better to pass, etc.., but I will be disappointed if I see him in another club's shirt next season. Don't think I will though, as he has two seasons left. And Saints will just say no.

He had not paid much of a price for it until now; bounced from good team to good team, with good paycheques at every turn.

Now it's likely to be a different story...not only is he utterly toxic, he isn't particularly good, and he's on the wrong side of 30. There is very little reason to give him his 73rd chance to grow up.

 

Problem is I doubt if he needs another chance. I suspect he's accumulated sufficient wealth.

Absolutely. But it's going to be quite a kick to his not-insubstantial ego if he wants to continue his career and the only clubs willing to take the gamble are in the Albanian second division.
