The liver is a very resilient and forgiving organ, moreso than others in the body, and can repair itself well given the chance but if you push it past a certain point the damage will be irreversible

    Yeah the hard pitting etc.

    I dunno.
Ar least he's not an incurable alcoholic if he's stopped drinking

Yep, and like I said earlier symptoms often don't show until it's too late.
I don't want to be a scare-monger, but heavy drinkers should be aware of this and take care to have it checked now and again.

Yeah, drinking basically has no positives apart from maybe one - the feeling it gives you - but everything else about it sucks and is awful for you

the vested interests make out drinking a pint or two helps fight heart disease as it promotes good cholesterol. I don't believe it.

Can we not get overly negative. I know it's not looking good for him - I know a little bit about science and health, but I really do have a lot of time for the guy. It does look like he may be past the point of no return from a liver perspective.

    I know sorry.

The positive is you said he stopped drinking so hopefully that is his first step to getting a bit better.

I always thought the liver could repair itself to some extent, so there could be hope for him if he has stopped drinking. Fingers crossed for him.

Not after a certain point. I went to see him yesterday. He didn't ;look as bad as I thought he would, but he has lost a jot of wait and his stomach is pretty distended. He offered us both a can of Grolsch, but we didn't think it right to drink it in front of him.
