Not really much in the way of entry requirements. So long as you don't have a history of violence and know how to take basic orders if they need numbers, you're in. Not sure about MK Dons but NUFC put you through about 8 sessions of training then you're ready to go, put you through an NVQ2 event stewarding course (at no extra cost/time) and then it's up to you from there.

An SIA badge will pretty much get you straight in but it's not a requirement. You'll probably be put on turnstiles first but the other role is just the usual, keeping an eye on crowds and alerting the right people should anything go wrong. Since you don't actually have to do any sort of policing or confronting your CV won't be too closely inspected.

It's a great way to get involved in matchdays without paying. <ok>

No problem. If it's anything like SJP you'll have a great time. <ok>

I am indeed. There weren't any requirements per say, just went through 6 weeks of training. It's all common sense like, hence I got the job but its been like 6 years now and I love it.

Milburn stand. In line with Gallowgate goal. Pitchside. It's mint.

Any wannabee stewards, I will make a threat on how to apply for it. It's actually canny. Get paid the same amount as a match ticket (without tax) and, depending on where you are placed, you can watch the match.

Milburn pitchside? I work that quite often! <yikes>

I've been moved mainly to the exit gates but if there's plenty stewards on that means getting to watch 20 minutes per half from the voluntary. <ok>

I know Alan and Carroll yeah, usually with Davey if I'm on the doors! I wear glasses, usually have a scruffy beard and am usually playing on my phone (if that narrows it down).

My cousin applied years ago at sjp but did the foolish thing and say he was a newcastle fan, he was told after there were not keen 0n taking on fans as they would wonder off and try and watch the game.

this was a long time ago mind you

Most of the supervisors stand and watch the match when they can, they really don't mind if you're a fan or not, just ask that you remain as impartial as possible during the game (to avoid 'unsettling the crowd').

Yeah. NUFC had a serious shortage of stewards around 2007/8, probably less fussy at letting people in now. I remember them saying that if the club lost another 30 stewards the council would limit capacity to around 35,000! <yikes>
