I was born in the south-west of England during the WW1 years
I worked for the Board of Education during the 1930s and served in the RAF during WW2
I hosted several TV shows, wrote fiction and non-fiction books, and co-wrote the screenplay for a blockbuster movie
I received a knighthood and an Academy Award nomination, and a dinosaur is named after me

I was born in the East Midlands during the early 1950s
As well as an interest in music, I enjoyed electronics and would often build devices from scratch
I've written and performed for a super group, collaborated with Elton John, and written the soundtrack for a movie
I retired from music in 1997, I'm worth approximately £60 million, and an insect is named in my honour

I was born in Scotland during the early 1960s
I worked the cabaret circuit while still at university, and I eventually had a hit single in the mid '80s
Much of my work is politically motivated, but I've also worked on classic operas and light-hearted stage productions
I've been diagnosed with ADHD and once presented a programme about it on BBC Radio

Ooooft, well done if correct mate, I kept on looking for the insect thing for Taupin but couldn't find it but everything else seemed ok. I used to see John Deacon in a pub in Putney quite a lot about 10 years ago

There's no guessing involved, Ponders. I channel the searching beak of Emu to hone in on the correct answers with laser-like precision.

I'm off to watch 'Breakfast At Tiffany's'. <ok>

Piggybacking? Any idiot can post the 2 easy answers and a wrong link after a cursory look at the clues. <laugh>

An only child, I was born in the USA during the mid 1940s
After leaving the U.S Army, I landed a role in a comedy film but also worked as a taxi driver, messenger and salesman
I've received three Academy Awards for my work, and two of these were for semi-autobiographical movies
I've been arrested on drink and drugs charges and even spent time in a rehabilitation program

One of five siblings, I was born in France during the mid 1800s
Despite railing against my classical education, I soon found a talent for surrealist poetry
I often abandoned my creative writing for other careers, including soldier, foreman and firearms merchant
My right leg was amputated due to cancer, and I died before reaching 40

I was born in New York during the mid 1970s
My grandmother raised me after my mother died, and I soon developed a talent for boxing
So far I've sold over 30 million records, made $100 million from Coca Cola, and won a Grammy
I've invested in real estate, mining, fragrances, boxing promotions, electronics and many other sectors
