That certainly fits in to why we're linked to various Marseilles players: they've had a caretaker since last August and haven't appeared to line up a permanent manager, hence they're currently in 13th with one game to go and had a poor showing in the Europa League (although they have muddled their way into the Coupe de France final - against PSG...), so it's no surprise that N'Koulou hasn;t renewed his contract or that Batshuayi is making noises about leaving.

I think Redmond is decent, but he hasn't gotten any better in the last couple of years. He's got all the ingredients though - could be worth a punt. Naismith is a grafter but lacks the sheer quality we need.

Perez is a very handy player but doesn't do enough for me, and fades out of games all too regularly. If we were to sell Vorm - likely IMO - it might be with looking at Darlow from Newcastle, as well as Lascalles (young CB). We were linked before they moved to SJP. Not bothered about Mitro, he's a nutter and not good enough to justify it in this league.

Villa, I don't think I'd want anyone. Theres a player in Grealish somewhere, but he's a proper project, not sure we could carry him next season and if he's a bit of a wrong'un he could play havoc.

Any interest in the inevitable Toon Army discount sale that's about to commence?

    Perez, Mitrovic, Wijnaldum, Townsend?

Joking aside I think we've both got to invest heavily in the summer with CL football to contend with though I do concede you are better placed to cope as you gained a lot of experience this season going as far as you did in the Europa ?

This season? Try 8 out of the last 9 seasons. Think we'll cope okay mate <ok>

Fixtures wise Champs League is a walk in the park compared to Europa too. None of this Thursday night crap and no trips to Azerbaijan!

In 13/14 we had away trips to Georgia, Russia, Moldova, and Ukraine!

Theres a number of reasons Newcastle are down and out - but ultimately too many of the players are outright not good or consistent enough, and not young and inexperienced enough to justify it. It'd look at some of their younger players but even then, with caution.

Buzz, I think the sheer workload and travel schedule of Europe will be a wake up call for you. If you don't invest I fear for you a little, but we need investment in the right positions desperately too as Poch likes to rely on a smaller group.

If I had to schedule ins and outs for us: (a mixture of wants and expectations)

Outs: Vorm, Fazio, Mason, Chadli, Carroll

Ins: young keeper (Darlow?), right-footed Wimmer, forward, striker. Possible DM

We don't necessarily need numbers, but a rebalance and replacements.

The level of competition is naturally much harder but as WY pointed out it'll somewhat be a walk in the park compared to Europa for us in terms of fatigue and fitness. Europa's great to be in but going places in Russia/ Ukraine/ Moldova/ Azerbaijan etc is an absolute nightmare when you've got another game just three days later.

Ranieri already knows what it's like. I think that the perils of European football for Leicester are being exaggerated a little.
You'll need to expand your squad and some fringe players will have to up their game, but that would probably have been true anyway.
More signings like Gray will help, while the likes of Inler might finally bring something to the table with his experience, if he stays.

The CL means you effectively have an additional 6 PL games in the first half of the season.
And similarly another 2 such games per KO round in the final third of the PL season, when
some of your PL title rivals may have no such distractions.

If there is a big gap between your first and second XI (injuries or not) , it will be exposed by the CL
(as Spurs know from 2011) .

All true, but they've got a manager that's been in European competitions for ages and a workable system.
They won't have to change anything when they come up against the big names, which often kills our bigger teams.
The squad would have to be strengthened anyway this summer, so I don't see it as that big a deal.

Will they be as prepared for the league games as they were this season? No, clearly not.
Will it cost them points and places in the league? Almost certainly.
Is it something that's unique to Leicester or even any different for them? Not in my opinion.

Bold prediction: we'll be seeing a few stories this summer saying Chadli wants to leave so he can get back into the Belgium squad...wait, did I say bold? That's more Times New Roman for how standard that story is.

As for Dembele III, what sticks out as odd is how last week it was reported he'd agreed terms with Dortmund yet Dortmund and Rennes hadn't agreed a fee. Am I missing something there? You'd think clubs would agree a fee, then contract talks begin.

They seem to think that Bayern doing it to them makes it ok to do it to everyone else, for some reason.
Hummels is the latest to stitch them up in that manner. Must be rather galling.

I'm sure that this sort of thing is pretty widespread, but the way that it's reported as normal is just wrong.
There's clearly been some rules broken here, but nobody gives a ****.
Why bother having the rules for it then, in that case?

It certainly looked like something was afoot a few weeks ago when it was reported Rennes were trying to negotiate with both Bayern and us a deal where we paid a £30m fee and loan him back for next season.

From that angle, it looks as if they were hoping we'd tell them to piss off so an arrangement with Dortmund could go ahead.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head fella, players like Inler, Kramaric ain't become bad players over night, what they need to do IMO is realise they have to work for their £40 grand a week and buy into the current " team ethnic "..... Clearly, it works !
Edit: Wether it works next season, who knows ?
Congrats on Poch signing his life away, by the way, possibly the best bit of business you'll do !
You know what, in hindsight, I reckon Poch used SAF to get a better deal, hence the delay in signing and all the wumming, me included !<laugh>
    All the best :emoticon-0148-yes:

Always said it as an old farty 53 years old, " Young Kids paid silly money "
Its like my lad , 22, and I worry about him nearly as much as my 17 year old daughter ffs !
