He would have been sacked anyway, he is the master of one step forwards, two back and has flattered to deceive too many times, talks as much ****e as Tufty.

The timing could be significant. There is no practical reason to sack a manager with one game to go, so there must be reasoning behind it. Makes you think it is either to do with the fact that De Boer will be available from this weekend - or Rafa!

Whilst I'm not saying Rafa will stay, I cannot see him being on the blue side of the Mersey. Just can't. Also rumours abound that De Boer's resignation was to take over at Inter. Maybe. PL is a tough induction, tougher I'd say than Inter in Serie A.

On Everton, few interesting bets - I think Mark Hughes might get a shot. He played for them, and it's another logical step for him getting to Old Trafford, isn't it? Nobody's mentioned Pellegrini either.

It is weird how he doesn't seem to be featuring in gossip for any club (at least as far as I have seen). He's a good manager who has handled himself with a lot of dignity this season.

I think Pellegrini -> Inter and De Boer -> Everton makes considerable sense. It'd be astonishing if De Boer hasn't got something lined up, wasn't he quoted to be interested in Everton?

I meant in his mind - I agree he's got about as much chance as Steve Bruce. Or Sam Allardyce.

I hadn't read the Everton link before, but have read several articles supposedly quoting him as wanting to manage in the PL.

I think maybe clubs are thinking that he might not make it to August.
