I know He hardly ever gets passed to either, so he's creating sitters from thin air and missing no more than other players
Anyone who thinks Benteke is a bad footballer really ought to start following another sport. He's a bit one-dimensional, but then so are a lot of the best players, not all -rounders but good in a niche role. He isn't a Liverpool type footballer, he doesn't suit our game and he shouldn't have been signed. Bringing up his fee in order to have a go at him is stupid as well.
His figures as a sub are pretty impressive, But he's a 'proven' goal scorer who misses clear cut chances. I'm guessing you don't watch much of LFC because if you did, you would have seen some of the BIG chances he's missed. His movement in terribly poor - being in the right position 6-7 times a season doesn't mean he has good movement. Same as Coutinho scoring from one header doesn't making a great header of the ball.
He has missed a lot of sitters. Off the top of my head maybe around 3 or 4 clear 1 on 1s late in the game. My point is, he can't be missing as many sitters as you think (you just like to point them out) because if he did, he's getting an awful lot of chances to have put away them 10 goals for a static striker who doesn't move/doesn't play much. You see the point i'm getting at? Also i see sturridge and firmino haven't been castigated for missing some sitters yesterday (costing me a pretty penny )
Not what we said, horses for courses but 2 are your love children (ala rodgers and pirlo) and 1 is the devil and was the worse striker in the world
Game was terrible, neither team really cared. Our players were more focused on staying injury free, cant blame them as our season rests on next Wednesday.
No but I like having different options and find the cycle of whinging about not having squad depth then whinging we have someone who doesn't start every game boring No one in the PL has a better backup striker than Benteke but for some reason this is a bad thing. We should have someone exactly the same as our other striker sitting on the bench instead apparently.
I see this all the time on here. People moaning one minute about individuals not being good enough to start, then the next minute about a lack of squad depth.
He's missed a lot more, I assure you. And as mentioned, you can be in a good position a few times all season, but doesn't mean that ou have good movement. Look at Origi and you'll see why he is preferred over Benteke. Difference is, Sturridge and Firmino have scored goals and created chances, whilst working harder for the team.
You're right - we should just bring back Rickie Lambert as wel if that's the style you want to play. Or alternatively, you bring in players who suit your plan A first and foremost, and have the ability to adapt to another style ala Origi. Squad depth is one thing - squad quality is another.
benteke is a brilliant player.... when he played for villa we lost games to them so the issue is sell him to wet ham and we will just keep losing to them...
If you compare us to other teams who are already on holiday in the league with FA to play for then can't be too hard. Yeha we'd all like to see us win and play great, but look at Watford, Everton, Stoke who can't really do anything bad swap a few places in middle, they're getting thrashed week in week out for last month.
I said when Terry got sent off was gutted as gave you guys a better chance. Mikel, bar the first 30 seconds, was more solid than Terry has been all season.
They weren't trying before Christmas, and were so far behind by that point it was too late. I don't expect them to be the same next time.
Shows how reliant on hazard they are. William was very good and kept them going at times but he's not on the same quality and hazard drags that team with him from an attacking point of view.
