Everything about this makes sense. Tobes was on here earlier and reckoned it won't happen cos too many of them wouldn't accept him and he wouldn't risk his Anfield legacy. He has a habit of going places he knows he won't be popular though if he fancies the challenge. There could be something in this one - though obviously I hope not (still praying for the unlikely miracle of him staying).

League above you lot. Literally. So why not?

Joke aside, Personally I think he's massively over rated. Better than Martinez but Everton can do better. Doubt they'd want him. Not as prone to big name 'porn' as you lot. JPF told you all from the off.

If Hull lose the play offs you've got your man. Ugly **** for an ugly club.

Why can Everton do better? He's better than anyone they've has in the last 20 years.

This would make sense, his time at Chelsea shows he's not afraid to take a job where he may get a frosty reception, and I can't really see him staying, as going from Real Madrid to away trips at Huddersfield and Burton Albion looks massively unlikely.

Everton have potential, and he'll see that, he can get them back in the top 6 with the right signings.

Ugly? I see you have another Brian (Blessed...as if you are) on your avatar, Bri. Is that because you can't show your face around these parts and in particular on your own board?

It's you that is ugly, Brian, your fellow mackems clearly think so.

Comm sends his love, apparently :emoticon-0152-heart

Frank De Boer to leave Ajax next week, failure to win the league and his ambition means the club and manager have mutually consented to him leaving. He has already arranged to meet with Everton to discuss the role.

    hmmm, interesting.

If that happens then every Prem club looks reasonably happy with their managers, leaving only the question of if Rafa would be willing to drop down.

Interesting for Everton, glamorous and capable appointment. Would not be remotely surprised to see at least two of our Dutchmen head there now, Wijnaldum and De Jong. Janmaat likely off too.

As was said surely means a PL return for Rafa is off the cards. I don't know what Benitez wants but if he'd like to own a club from top to bottom with zero culpability then surely we are attractive.

Is it written in stone that Benitez will stay in this country? Wont the Ajax job interest him?

    ?????

His family are in England (North West) and he openly loves it here; he has almost cited homesickness in the past during his times with Napoli and Madrid. The threat here is whether he wants to take over from Del Bosque, I think. Managing the national team will be easier to do remotely, but then he might not fancy the constant flights to Spain.

As for Ajax, they NEVER do that. Bergkamp will take over.

Fair enough, I'm wrong about Ajax, but pay him stupid money and he'd manage the Syrian champions and take his family with him!

Great manager for any club to get. Proven track record and will excel wherever he goes.

I really think De Boer is being shoe horned in at Everton though. Announces through his agent he fancies the move, Martinez under massive pressure loses to Sunderland to pretty much seal his fate, and De Boer announces he is leaving Ajax.

Could be coincidence of course and he is just readying himself for a move somewhere

Heat, kitchen and all that malarkey. I think it must be that time of month, he/she can't seem to enjoy their survival.

Brian Blessed is a Toon fan and always has been.
Good of him to get the recognition he deserves in the form of avatars.
I preferred him in the Flash Gordon costume he wore.

Perhaps, but you're overlooking the fact that we already ARE paying him stupid money, and there's no relocation to a war-torn desert involved. If it's all about money, we have that covered. That was kind of the point, so you've sort of agreed there's no reason he won't stay on. If he has International ambitions - and few major coaches do - he might coach Spain; but I think he's fed up of Spanish media, tbh, he likes to be loved.

Somebody (a town fan in my office, quoting a Newcastle website) points out that the club itself can trigger the release clause. Apart from a saving on wages, could there be any reason why yous would want to do that? The website is basically saying that there is all this wondering amongst the fans on whether Benitez will want to stay, but nobody is saying whether the club will want him to stay or not.

This is exactly what we did with Shearer. He wanted a say in the structure of the club, in recruitment, he wanted to become the heartbeat of the club again. Ashley didn't like that, he wanted to keep his structure so essentially got rid. Shearer also had little real experience, so didn't come with any safer promise of success.

The difference now is that, we hope, Ashley has finally clicked that his proposed structure just doesn't work (baffling for him, obvious for anyone else). Therefore it's claimed that it is very unlikely we will activate the clause this time, as commercially and strategically it would make infinitely more sense to retain Rafa's services.

Or knowing our luck, Benitez will go Everton, Martinez will come to Newcastle and we will drop another 8 divisions
