it was cringeworthy. Cockney rejects were unreal and either drunk or on something. Even we would have done something better. Not to mention the pre match shenanigans. Wasn't, worth staying out in peeing rain until 23.30.
I've seen 'The Cockney Rejects' a few times and they are like that quite often . I assume they didn't play 'War On The Terraces' ?
The whole event was bizarre. What the hell was that all about? How many other clubs have held such a Lady Dianaesque tribute when moving grounds? Arsenal, Cardiff, Leicester, Derby, Boro, Man City, I could go on but not even the grand old lady herself ... Wembley ... held such a self imposed sickfest. I fear that that this was all engineered by Sky and that they paid for this vomit inducing spectacle. If you need to move to another ground it's because the current one is outdated and not up to the job anymore. Don't drip about it, pack up and move on. If West Ham should've done anything they should have left it to the fans. Let them run on the pitch and grab a bit of turf or some other souvenir of their memories of the place. The Boleyn Ground? What's that all about? They wouldn't even mention Upton Park on the commentary or anywhere else. I can remember Brian Moore on 'The Big Match' saying ''and now we cross to Upton Park'' ... The Boleyn Ground was never ever mentioned other than in a Pub Quiz. And to cap it off they had our very own Phil Parkes saying that he'd never played in such a fantastic set of fans ... or something similar. Better than the title runners-up set of fans in '76 Phil? Really!!! You've gone down in my estimations for that clanger Phillip.
West Ham trying to give an impression of 'history' with the Boleyn name. I have to say I remember going there in the early 70s and standing behind one goal the crowd was such a crush you could only see the play in the other half of the pitch, when the play was at our end you had to stand on tiptoes to get a glimpse of the action. A truly sh*tty ground in an area that is the arsehole of London...
Tad harsh chaps...but yes the ben n bianca show was a real car crash event...no Geoff Hurst or bonzo Bonds but those true West ham 'icons' Anton Ferdinand and Marlon hardwood interviewed...it was poorly produced and defo not by Frankie Boyle more like katie Boyle!
And their modern legend Greeno also featured! For a connoisseur of opening/ closing ceremonies (me) it was truly awful and embarrassing. However careful of over criticism of cockney rejects we would have babyshambles
Cheeky B!!! How wrong are you facto. Last weekend I was at Somewhere else festival, sleeping in the back of my van...watching Steve Innocent from Crass, and Atilla the stockbroker. ...wouldn't go to Glastonbury far too middle class and on trend for me...
No not Bug Jam either...the music there is cr...very poor. We have a van (Ford)..not a camper... Woodstock...I was just too young
Ben Shepherd was addressing the crowd as if it was a children's birthday party Went on far too long, and was just embarrassing
I like Spam but agree it was a w@@kfest made up by SKY. I am actually surprised they didn't offer it as a pay for view? The whole thing was embarrassing (especially Phil Parks). A poster on LFW said this about Parks: 'I was watching thinking, "wellll, there was another team you played for, for nine years and over 400 games.... And won your only England cap with...' The whole taxi thing was comical as was Anton Ferdinand, i mean surely SKY could have got an actual football player on? Anyway, i doubt we will see anything like that when we move to the 'Pie in the sky' stadium and good job too. I agree with Nines in that they should have had a pitch invasion and ripped up the pitch.
I can't wait for the silence that will be the Olympic Stadium after a few home games. It'll be worse that the Emirates! I wonder what they will call it to give it that little extra fake history, Shakespeare Stadium, Bedrock Ground, Bodicea Lane, Cnut Park (no spelling error intended), or just The **** Tip that they will make it?
I feel sorry for biiiiiiiaaaaancaaa Westwood...the girls a trier I'll give her that..and if offered a lot more!
