I think we all know what went wrong, Ashley let Charnley run the club, Charnley ****ed it up, that's all.
Gutted but interested to see what's going to happen. There are going to be a lot of changes. It's been pretty sh*t watching for a long time now. Perhaps we can get back to enjoying football for a bit. I think we are at least financially stable enough to not have a leeds'esque melt down but there is A LOT of work to do to get the house in order.
I thought I'd get at least a couple of weeks false hope in, but no - Charnley/Bishop just had to throw that in my fcking face. What a disgusting, vapid, nonsensical piece of bile that statement is. They cannot, no matter what happens, just say "we got it wrong, all of it. The structure, the decisions, the players, the manager - it was all wrong, we thought we knew better but have been found out. We apologise for our arrogance, our ineptitude, our poor judgement and our insincerity. Tonight myself (Lee Charnley), Graham Carr and Bob Moncur have tendered resignations in recognition of how badly this has failed. The owner put his trust and the club's wealth in our hands and we failed to deliver, spectacularly. Rafael Benitez has agreed to oversee the rebuilding of every facet of this club which has begun before our final, pointless game against Spurs. We urge you to show support for Rafa in this time of need and whilst these words are hollow we hope you accept the apologies we collectively offer and understand it was not a lack of will that saw us fail, just a lack of capability. The club will endure and come back stronger, it is bigger than this board, than the players, than the owner. Be there during the dark times and you will bring back the light quicker than you hope."
We can only hope that Ashley has noted what went wrong and is waiting for the last game to be out of the way before acting. It's a long shot, but we can hope!
Mate, it's all football is - hope. Hope Ashley acts, hope Rafa stays, hope we do well in the transfer window, hope we get promoted. Every week, hope we win. Division, competition, squad, owner, MD, tea-lady, weather, ground, pitch, wind strength, chill factor - not one bit of it matters when the whistle blows, we hope the Toon win that game in that wonderful 90 minute microcosm of time.
You'll bounce back lads, your financially sound enough, just need a serious director of football........
Saturday night? More like prepared this time last season just in case, all they needed to do was just change the managers name. Ah while we're all feeling down, it's great to know the board never loses the ability to spout vacuous cliches and empty PR drivel. **** off you bald speccy prick, you've done as **** job and hopefully you'll be the first to be axed.
Sorry mate but that`s the statement of a two faced arsehole who doesn`t give a ****. He doesn`t have a ****ing clue what it means. I`ve said it on our boards and I`ll say it on here. The Boro derbies are not the same. Hurry back. We might need the points. Sorry. Couldn`t resist. you know how it is.
Having worked in big corporations all my life that statement is nothing more than a bog standard "if we apologise early enough our clients will think we are being proactive" statement and as with a lot of people at the top of big organisations the fact that it was sent when it was shows a complete disconnect between themselves and their clients - the fans. You need/deserve people in charge who at least know something about the product they are selling and the clients they are selling it to. Good luck with that with your present owner.
