Do they still do Pseud's Corner in Private Eye? That load of bullshit is a prime contender.

Are you in a business specialising in repairing suspension systems?

I'd assume so, unless it projects onto itself somehow.

Well personally I think it looks very nice and I'll absolutely be coming up for a weekend to see it once its up, spending a night in a locally owned hotel, eating in locally owned restaurants and spending money in shops whilst I'm there.

As sick as I am of stupid pedestrians who think they can walk out into the road without looking or paying attention, cross when the lights are on green for the motorist, step across at pelican crossings when the little red man is lit up but expect the motorist to take then blame if anything goes wrong?

It could be wired to 100kV and act as a giant fly killer like the ones found in chip shops. It would claim a lot of pigeons and the odd chav or beggar too. Other than that it's **** and looks like a big roll of bubblewrap.

    ****ed that up didn't I.

Some more drivel from the designers...

"Shadow Gate works as a timepiece, marking the key moments in Hull’s past, present and future,"

" It symbolises the ever-changing environment in which it sits, a gateway of refusal, gateway of trade and a monument of freedom."

"It encompasses its strong historical context and works to draw people lo the space to reignite this forgotten space."

"It uses its nodal point location as a way finder through the town, engaging with its surrounding, utilising vistas"

"Boat like in plan, sail like in elevation and mast like in section, Shadow Gate invokes the imagery of the trading ships masts and sails"

"Shadow Gate will work as a tool for marking points in time, a device to highlight the important moments in Hull’s history and future."

"The artwork comprises of two single surface skins joined together creating a sculpture able to stand with no additional support structure"

"The two skins are undulating and heavily perforated, creating an ethereal and visually ever-changing structure."

"The proportions of the curving geometry at base level act as a deterrent for climbing."

"The perforation sizes at the lower height will eliminate the risk of a small child trapping their hand in the structure."

Like this one proposed by an individual, all planning applications are open to public comment. Just go to corpo's website. You don't even have to live in Hull.

This one doesn 't look like one from Inglis, there's no TV screen.

I think they should just throw mud all over and have a fan blowing dust about. It'd symbolise the agricultural nature of the region, and be more inclusive.
