It doesn't imply that you were joking... It implies that what ever you're saying after the first sentence is serious.
To change the subject a bit...I'm taking the family to Seaburn now for what they think is a nice stroll, and a few goes on the rides etc that are there for the Air show. However, the real reason I want to go is to see the 1970's band 10CC to take me back to my youth...
I'm really not sure....and quite confused, really. So to be safe, I'm not going out tonight and deadlocking the door.
But if the whole thing was serious, I wouldn't have needed to put "seriously though" in the middle. You can ring the NSPCC back and tell them it was a false alarm
How many of the band are left? Some songs of theirs haven't dated very well (Rubber Bullets, Dreadlock Holiday), but 'I'm not in love' is a bona fide classic..
I've been watching clips of those old 10cc songs - the ones you've uploaded plus 'Donna' and others. They were definitely a very clever band, very talented, but most of the songs do sound dated and twee to my ears. If you're a fan, though, they'll probably always sound fresh and relevant. I should know - my favourite band is Camel!!
