Have sold more than 50,000 season tickets, well they will be 3rd best supported team next season but they should not have reduced the capacity from 74,000 we would not have would we ?. Then there's Liverpool going to 60,000 come on Mr Short imagine 63,000 at the stadium of light on derby day !, make it happen. We will show all these club what atmosphere is like starting on Wed.
Sort our mess out, get a settled team, aim for mid table obscurity, buy next level players, head for the fringes of Europe, get regularly entertained, sneak into Europe, have a team and players to be proud of, then we can think about increasing the capacity.
Last I looked, you lot were 17/18/19th out of the 20 teams in the league for attendance as a % of capacity. Safe to say you'll not be needing any more seats for a while.
Fair play to them, this is what happens when you slash season ticket prices, though i suppose they can afford to do so having been gifted a stadium
I think our average gate this year is about 43k leaving about 6k empty seats, which is pretty decent for a team that has constant struggles like us. I dont see the point in increasing until we sort our shyte out and try and establish ourselves as a top 10 team. Im pretty confident we could get more through the gate then and eventually increase the capacity . I bet West ham would have got no where near those numbers a few years ago.
we average 87% capacity ~ 42k out of 48k. until the crowd averages 95% capacity over consecutive seasons we won't be expanding the stadium. remember WHU are London based and get a lot of the immigrant support and corporate ticket sales in the former Olympic stadium will be business deal sweeteners - another example of political repercussions on the rest of the country, even when it's not directly related.
I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at by 'immigrant support' but Upton Park on a match day certainly isn't one of the most multi-cultural places I've been to in London. And its certainly not like Syrian refugees are jumping out of the back of their refridgerated container lorries and immediately saying "let's get down the Hammers for a season ticket". West Ham can pull this many in because they are THE team for much of Essex, which is a fairly large and densely populated county, most of which is within an hour's travel from Upton Park. We just don't have that density of population to draw on. Much of the corporate sales will be sold on Premiership Football and The Olympic Stadium, rather than West Ham Utd itself though.
21st century built stadium with all the relevant infrastructure to ensure easy access and departure. The only down side is that Millwall and Orient will be massive losers, didn't realise that WHU had 50,000 supporters.
Disgraceful - its all part of regeneration of the East London environment '-it stinks -we've all been shafted
I know mate it really doesn't sit right with me either, I have nowt against West Ham or their fans but they are getting a huge unfair advantage of a fantastic new stadium in London for pittance with the tax payer footing the bill, public money paying for West Ham to gain an advantage over other similar teams, not to mention the impact on the lesser clubs in the area.
Good luck to WHU, but what gets me, as a taxpayer , is that the original build cost was way over the estimate. Who got it so wrong and who said ''not to worry, here's the extra £100m + you're now asking'' ? Then, the conversion cost, has been again, I believe in excess of £100m over the estimate. Assume the same contractors, so who got it so wrong again, weren't they told to make sure their sums were right this time, who again just handed over the extra money ? Justification for the conversion cost seems to be that it was engineering wise challenging and involved almost entirely rebuilding the original structure. Why wasn't this considered within the options when originally designing the stadium and considering it's post games use. ? Total stadium spend now £700+m . Millenium stadium cost £121m. Don't suppose Mr Coe will ever tell us these answers.
You also have to take into account that a lot of other things are free to West Ham; Cleaner and Turnstile operators together with heating and lighting costs What will be provided for West Ham? In August, the BBC revealed a large number of "facilities and services" would be paid for by the grantor - the publicly-funded LLDC - and not the club. These included the cost of stadium utilities, maintaining the pitch, and the goalposts and corner flags. Below is a list of other items, outlined in the agreement made public on Thursday, which the Hammers will not have to fund: Undersoil heating and floodlighting Ticket office and turnstiles Drug testing and medical facilities Concession areas cleared of snow and ice as required Team changing rooms, plus changing rooms for ball persons and officials Security, cleaning, pest control Stadium tannoy, generator, CCTV surveillance system and monitors LED pitch-side signage, scoreboards and jumbo video screens at each end of the pitch Read: The Olympic Stadium agreement. What are West Ham paying for? The Hammers are paying £15m towards the transformation costs of the stadium, and reportedly £2m to £2.5m rent annually as part of a 99-year lease. West Ham will also have to fork out a different amount each year based on which division the club is playing in, with the cost rising for every position they finish 10th or above in the Premier League. Additional fees will be charged if they win the FA Cup, qualify for the Europa League or Champions League, and should they triumph in those tournaments. Stinks to high heaven
Exactly - not against whu or fans but it's the unfair fall out on the so called "lesser clubs" compounded by the silver spoon which has been granted to whu - Remember the Tevez sham - ? its so wrong and I think there needs to be a big objection lodged by the Premier league against the LLDC and it's corrupt & shambolic ineptitude - let's get the ball rolling
why the **** are wham not paying for the obvious football-club-related items? i heard the argument from gold, sullivan or maybe even bitch-brady that if you rent somewhere you expect certain things to be provided but paying a tiny percentage of the conversion costs (which shouldn't have even been allowed as part of the bid - you want it? take it as it is or pay for it all yourself, scrounging ****s) and a measly amount in rent compared to your earnings is just pathetic. every other club in the league has to pay for policing, their own signage, drugs testing, loads of the things that wham are getting for nowt. why? cos they're a ****ing london club. ****s
