We hope that everyone has recovered from their celebrations and trust that a good time was had by all following our promotion to League One on Saturday. Everyone at Bristol Rovers Football Club would like to thank all supporters for their backing in what has been a tremendous season. To be promoted in such dramatic fashion was simply amazing and shared by Gasheads at The Memorial Stadium, Gasheads at home and Gasheads all over the world. In response to the most asked question since the weekend, we regret that there will be no open top bus tour to celebrate promotion. We realise that some will be disappointed at this decision but there is a great deal of work to be undertaken this summer as we prepare for life in League 1 and many of our players are departing for well earned breaks in the next few days and it has not been possible to arrange a suitable date for everyone to be involved. http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news...tour-planned-3104546.aspx#Lpuf64UY1i7F6GKw.99
Thing is, most gasheads were there on Saturday so already celebrated. Also its not as if we won a trophy to share. We got a trophy for winning the play offs but not for promotion in 3rd. Im glad there is no parade.
The papers apologised after. They had pictures sent to them showing Chelsea's open bus parade showing empty streets too advising streets would be empty when the bus was going along streets to get to where the parade starts. Plus, the parade ended at the mem for celebrations to take place on the pitch. So a lot of people didnt line the streets, they were waiting at the mem in the bars!
As much as I agree that we shouldnt have a bus parade for finishing 3rd, the reason the club gave seems odd to me. The players have booked holidays. If we had finished in the play offs, 1st leg would have been 14th May, 2nd leg 18th May and if we had made the final, it would have been 30th May. Therefore, the players wouldnt have booked a holiday between now and 30th May in case we had finished in the play offs which was a massive possibility and was known for a while that we had guarenteed a top 7 place, so they shouldnt have booked holidays in this period meaning would be available for the bus parade. Or would they have said to DC and Wael..... "im sorry, I cant play in the play offs because I got a holiday booked." Of course they wouldnt have said that. Saturday the game happened. Sunday recovery would have taken place. Monday morning club announced no bus parade. No way in that short period of time would the players have booked their holidays. No chance. Again I agree that we dont need a bus parade for ending 3rd. Majority of fans have already celebrated with the players on Saturday anway. I just think the club making the excuse of players have booked holidays is just a load of crap! Why not just say the real reason and not give this bullshit to us the fans!!
Then why not just say that. Instead of feeding us BS. I thought it was the old board of directors that feed us crap. Not the new guys in charge who wants to be transparent with us.
