Totally agree mate, charity begins at home IMO. Leaving the EU would be short term pain (allegedly), for long term gain <ok>

The issue with Boris Johnson, and the reason he is so unconvincing, is that he simply does not believe it himself. Rumours about his personal life around the time he made his decision, if true (they can't be repeated I'm afraid) no doubt played a huge part in his brain fart.

He got lambasted for his empty arguments so far, and now has just resorted to hectoring demagoguery.

And Cameron has resorted to pathetic scaremongering from day one, NATO has been responsible for peace in Europe for so many decades not the ****ing EU , we are far better off out.

It is not scaremongering to tell people to be scared when something is scary.

That is realitymongering. Which I am ok with, personally.

Let's face it. Brexit won't cause WW3 nor would the lack of existence of the EU as a whole. It was just hyperbole. Leaving is however an unknown, but it's interesting that no one has really presented a passionate defence of the EU only really fear of change.

"Project Fear" as it is so neatly dubbed worked in Scotland, mostly because the SNP kept making obviously false claims about what independence would look like. Getting in to arguments about keeping the pound and the Bank of England as lender if last resort, automatic entry into the EU, the amount of national debt they would take on, etc. Made it look like they were being deliberately false. They got dragged in to fighting it on the reality of the next 10 years and how the country would fair. If they have stood up and said, "yes it will probably be a generation of ****, then one that's only ok but after that we could build something awesome", people would have bought into the passion better.

In the EU debate the realities of being outside are less clear however the claims are similar (Gove's claim about still having free trade is very similar to Salmonds pound area talk) but recently they have turned from the economic and immigration based arguments to ones like KIO posted from Boris. Arguably it's meaningless, references some philosophers, quotes some Shakespeare, but mostly he's trying, in his way, to say "**** it, let's be brave and do something". It may work, but I hope it captures the public attention enough that someone makes a case for the EU as a force for good not just less **** than the alternative.

Sorry I like, chipping in, writing a small essay about this then leaving for ~10 pages of chat.

I'm not sure anything any of them are pedling is realitymongering, much more opinionmongering, with a huge whack of vestedinterestmongering.

    Bah!

I wouldn't be surprised if that while Cameron was supposed to be negotiating EU reform he was in fact just negotiating an unelected position for when he is no longer PM.

Weighty bor, not a nice thing to say about our Prime Minister. They have probably got him lined up to look after the teapot in the kitchen.

You looking forward to renewing friendly rivalry next season with us north of the border ?

Honestly speaking yes and no........the games are always exciting and can go either way whatever the form book says....but having those games make the league a little harder for both teams imo.....
