I couldn't sleep so i had an hour at my computer jumping from one video to another on Youtube when I stumbled upon the latest video from the True Geordie, 'I Hate Aston Villa'. I watch most of this guys videos and one of his many rants on this occasion was about one of our previous transfer targets under Dick Advocaat, Georginio Wijnaldum. I for one was gutted when the skunks nabbed him from under our very noses but now I am not so sure, after all, he was rated pretty highly before he signed up the road. Is it a case of a bad fit and there is a top player in there waiting for the right club or do you think we dodged a big bullet failing to sign him ?
He's a brilliant technical player but evidently has nothing about him in a fight. He's playing as if he's spat his dummy out, like the Chelsea players did for Jose. Ultimately that is why they're going down, nowhere near enough scrap in the players.
He just didn't do anything in the that game, but then you could say that of all of them. Their best player by a mile was Townsend.
Spot on. I think there is a technically very gifted player in there. Much like Lens. But if you're fighting your arse off y stay up he's not the type of player you need.
Gini gave up being remotely bothered in about October, if you were looking for a player who would have battled to keep you up, it ain't him.
And on top of all that Colback has been done for illegal betting ! I mean he bet Newcastle would beat Aston villa, come on he went too far there hehe .
It's been obvious since before Christmas that Wij doesn't turn out if playing away from home where graft is the first order of the day. Pretty sure Wij, Shelvey and Mitro have sat out the previous few away matches. We've had our share of passenger players over recent years, currently Lens, and Sam won't let him near the starting XI. IMO that's the best thing about our current attacking set-up; not just the skill of Khaz and support of Borini but their effort in tracking back. We didn't have that at the start of the season with Lens and AJ on the flanks.
He has 9 goals which is a canny return for your first season in the Premier league from midfield. He'll get a decent move if they go down
And 4 of those were scored in the same match, the 6-2 demolition of Norwich. I've watched some of the Skunks games, and he is not a grafter, his work rate is ****e, but he is technically skilled with some flair. He is good if you have a team where there are workhorses like Borini, and people to mop up the back like Jan and Catts. But in a team like Newcastle which is void of any type of leader, workhorse or someone to mop up (Tiote is ****e now anarl), he goes missing and can't be ****ed.
I spoke to a Dutch guy on holiday in Spain last August and he was very surprised that we had paid so much for him. Enough said.
He's got stacks of ability but not a lot more than Khazri. Khazri however runs his bollocks off and cares. I'll keep Khazri!
