But, is it? I think the Prem is as competitive as it's ever been. And liable to get more competitive!

Bad news for Liverpool as the bigger boys like Leicester and Spuds will invest in new players and keep the top 4 spots way out of Liverpools reach

A brave statement considering the Saints , Hammers and Reds can all finish above you ..........this season .

Lets not get carried away <laugh> You could stick the current so-called competitive sides in the league in the prem 6/7/8/9 years ago and the top 4 would still have been those United, Chavbus, Arsenal and either Liverpool or City sides (or this current Spurs side).

The more competitive claims just don't stack up.

Historically, no. But I still maintain that it looks to be becoming more competitive.

Basically, all premiership clubs are relatively rich financially now, It may well put even more emphasis on the the managerial teams of the clubs. That includes, scouting, coaching, and the manager's ability to build a 'team' Not just eleven mega expensive players who happen to be talented at kicking a football.

    Fair point <ok>

But being more competitive has been at the expense of quality of the biggest clubs. No surprise then that English clubs are now ****e in competing outside the prem.

I just think that the Prem has become too complacent, self satisfied. A bit like Whinger. The rest have moved on, but we still concentrate on our own little world. 'Cos....that's where the money is for the clubs!....<diva>

I think the problem isnt the money but it is the complacency in the way it's being spent. Spend £30m on Benteke or Depay and bcos the price tag is high therefore they should be good. Stupid! But do your homework and spend £30m on Martial and you get a quality player. It's not the money, but the stupidity of thinking money automatically means quality.

Exactly! As I've said, it's not how much money you've got, it's what you spend it on!...

I have no problem with that. And neither, I suspect, would most football supporters up and down the country. You better get used to it.

They do. Because the new Sky deal comes in which means all clubs can afford qualify.

Of course the big 6 will still dominate.

And United city chelsea will possibly be top 4 at expense of Leicester and Spurs but in general clubs like Watford and Stoke will have budget for better players

I really hope it stays this competitive and unpredictable next year.

The league for me had become quite boring and it just felt like it had lost its fizz.

This season made a nice change.

I don't see Leicester challenging next year. I can see them 8th ish.

I think Spurs will be up there again, as will Arsenal as usual.

I see United putting in a challenge even with Van Gaaaaal.

Chelsea will be around 4th and City will be there abouts too.

Not sure about us. I see sweeping changes this summer. We'll be around 4/5th I would imagine.

I see it still being pretty tight for top 8 with positions changing often.

There are a lot of teams with players to sell/buy and new managers to come in.

As others have said, with more money sloshing around for teams out of the top 4 they are now able to invest quality in their squad and close the gap.

.. an interesting overview ... last season the teams finishin 7th, 8th and 9th all lost a total of 14 games ... so taking that as a benchmark you are'predicting' us to lose eleven more games than we did this season? ... add in the last 10 games of last season too and we have lost 4 games in the last 47 played ... suggests to me that there would need to be huge levels of improvement fromn the 7 teams you think will finish above us... plus a considerable downturn from us ...

Football can be like that admittedly ... but personally I think we will hold our own and I hope that we can remain in the top 6 ...
