I can't say I'm pleased, overall I think he has been very good for this club. I honestly think that he has probably been a lone voice against the general ineptitude of the Smiths and Jones's, yes he has not always covered himself in glory and has said some stupid things in public but I'm sad to see him go. Of all the people at the top of the club he was the only one I had any real trust in since Bowcett left. Was that the first nail in McNally's coffin? It must be like ameteur hour in our board room now! Bah!
Nail on the head here, what say you KIO / ILD? Jonathan Cable @Carra_Rud Ed Balls and Delia Smith making important footballing decisions at our club leaves me feeling very very queasy.
Very disappointed. I know we are all gutted to be leaving the Premier League again but without McNally I'm certain we wouldn't have even made it back after league one so quickly.
A divisive character, but you can't argue that the club is in an infinitely better place now than when he arrived. Official statement very brusque, no 'how sorry we are to see him go / tried to dissuade him' etc. I agree with the General, probably fed up having one hand tied behind his back by a cook and an ex politician, neither of whom have a frickin' scooby about matters football related He helped salvage the club from the abyss - it would be easy to blame him for having too tight a hand on purse strings re: strengthening sufficiently this season without being privy to the facts. NCFC's loss will undoubtedly be somebody else's gain - but where does that leave us?
What a worrying thought! I wonder what Doncaster is doing! I've met McNally a few times at Chamber of Commerce meetings and the like, and always been impressed by him. He's worked wonders at this club, and will be sorely missed. It's all starting to unravel!
This is serious bad news the guy has done wonders for us Moaning plastic supporters with unrealistic ambitions will cause is to go into meltdown then they will be back to buying Man U shirts while we are buying maps for L1 journeys again!
Anyone think this might cause ripples that reach far further? Hughton was the boards majority decision, as far as I know, whereas Alex Neil was identified and to an extent head-hunted by McNally. I wonder how tenuous AN feels his position is with DM now departed and relegation-without-so-much-as-a-whimper about to happen.
I am distraught by this news, as much as I love and respect Delia in her efforts to save our club, with DM gone there is no-one with enough footballing knowledge on our board of directors!
I'd like to nominate myself for "Most wrong post of 2016"... Hugely disappointed to see him go. On the financial side of things he has worked wonders, when he joined weren't we a few weeks from administration? We're now debt-free, still just about in the Premier League, a hugely stronger position. Getting the right replacement is a massive appointment, and I'd hope we sort that before giving any thoughts to the managers position. If Alex Neil's position changes when there's a gaping hole in the collective knowledge of our board then that says all I need to know about the way the remaining board plan on taking our club forwards - or should that say backwards. Regardless of relegation, with the squad we have and the finances we have, the next 2-3 years are the best chance we'll have in the next 20 years of establishing ourselves in the Premier League. Once the money goes even more crazy it'll be so much harder for promoted clubs to survive without huge investment from wealthy individuals. If we cannot capitalise on our current position because of ineptitude at board level then we deserve to return to championship mediocrity. I know under his stewardship we kept a list of potential managers up to date should the need for a change arise. I can only hope that he kept the same for his own position, as he's one of a small number I'd trust with the appointment. Realistically I expect it to be Ed Balls though.
No don't agree, but, we need a replacement as soon as possible. If he resigned because he brought the manager in then surely it should follow that the manager goes as well. Let's face it he's clueless!!! I will put the blame for recruiting Alex Neil firmly at the door of the board, we need a experienced manager not another unknown loser who doesn't have a plan "B"!
Why stop there? I think Delia is losing touch with the cooking public, Holt also for chief cookbook writer! Bah!
