I was wrong Khan didn't make it to the 9th .... but fair play to him he was probably leading up to the moment he hit the canvas. When a very good big un meets a very good littl'un the big'un will normally win in the end... at the end of the day it all about power.

Well done Anthony Crolla btw <ok>

Absolutely gutted for him. He boxed beautifully, but you could see Alvarez getting his feet closer and closer until the inevitable happened.

That punch was straight from hell...!! Anyone who questions his chin iff the back of that shot is a 24 carat ****tard, because that shot would've ironed out most heavyweights...!!

Khan can come back from this though. It's just a question of whether or not he still has the appetite for it. $6m he got for that fight so he's surely set for life. He might decide he don't need to risk life and limb anymore.

If he does carry on he may have to drop down a level and deffo a weight class or two.

I personally think that at 29 and with his frame that he'll be more comfortable at Light Middleweight.

However, that's a bit of a dead/nothing division bereft of any really big names.

So, I can see him back at Welterweight where there's some big fights for him (Kell Brook the IBF champ would fight him in a heartbeat).

I for one hope he carries on. He's exciting to watch and never in a dull fight.

The Crolla fight was UNBELIEVABLE. I didn't fancy him one bit against Barroso (I lumped on the Venezuelan to win by KO). How wrong was I...!!

That performance IMHO is right up there with Calzaghe's demolishion of Jeff Lacy in 2006.

    Great night of boxing <applause>

I know that a lot of people don't like Khan in this country, think he's overhyped etc, I'm not one of them.. However from Saturday night, I couldn't believe Khan made the same mistakes as gis previous defeats, starts well, good combos, fast hands, but further on, his stance stays so open and gets KO'd.
    Fast hands, slow mind.
Fair play for stepping up, but Khan just isn't intelligent enough for that level I'm afraid.
At least we can cut the sh*t about Mayweather 'dodging' the fight with Khan ffs <laugh>

I think Brook is very good to be fair. We won't know how good until he fights one of the top boys in the division.

In fairness to him the IBF have insisted on some properly pathetic opponents for his mandatory defences, and he can only beat what's put in front of him.

What he does next will be telling. He has a voluntary defence before another mandatory. If he chooses another patsy he wants shooting...!!

He desparately needs a big name to move him forward and it's up to Eddie Hearn to deliver that.

Not enough hours in the day for me to follow boxing apart from the actual fights - is Khan v brook likely to happen? I think Khan should hang up the gloveshe has taken some very big hits in his time. He got £9m for the fight so he isn't in need of money.

    I bloody love it Don.

Football was my first love, but since things have gone bonkers money wise and it's moved away from being the sport of the working man to a million/billionaire's plaything I've fallen out of love with it.

I honestly couldn't give a monkeys about anything football wise that's not Charlton these days (although I keep an eye on Milan's results).

I find the whole boxing package absolutely facinating and have read a plethora of books that examine every aspect of the sport (Dark Trade: Lost In Boxing is the best book I've ever read on the sport).

For sure Khan has taken his bumps, but I think he has a lot more to offer and achieve in boxing.

Will he fight Brook...? I think so, because In boxing if it makes money it makes sense.

    I'd certainly watch it :emoticon-0148-yes:

Football will always come first for me, but I know where you are coming from. I am a massive fan of Serie A due to my Italian roots and it's the only major league that is all about the money. I think it's gone unnoticed how little Juventus spend compared to the usual suspects and they really are as good as Bayern and Madrid.
Barca are just on another level.

I don't enjoy the WWE like build up to the fights, the fleecing of customers by putting any old ****e on box office and particularly Eddie Hearn. I'm more a fan of watching men smash their opponents brains in while I have a good drink with some of my mates.

Looking forwards to Kell v Brook whenever it takes place. May even lose my live boxing virginity.

I'm a real sucker for the build up. I love the theatre of it all :emoticon-0100-smile.

It never ceases to amaze me how two grown men can rip each other to shreds in the build up to a fight. Then spend 30 minutes knocking seven shades of **** out of each other. Then at the final bell they hug, it's all forgotten and the mutual respect is there.

I rarely pay to watch boxing on TV. There's a million ways to see the action without lining the promoters pockets any more than you have to.

I grew up watching Serie A, those great Milan sides under Sacchi and Capello were a real joy to behold. I think it'll be some time before I see another Milan like those :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Juve have massively sewn the Italian top flight up the last few years. They've got precious little genuine competition these days. Which for me has lead to a devaluation of what was once upon a time a league out on its own as the best in Europe.

Are Juve your Serie A side then Don...?

I'd say I'm a much bigger boxing fan than football fan goin back to getting up in the middle of the night to listen to Ali fights on the radio with my dad in the 70's.
I have got into MMA over the last 15 years and watched the UFC grow love combat sports .
Mike Tyson fight nights were the nuts for me watched him break onto the scene a wrecking machine and his demise just as quickly he's my no1.
Out of the current crop big David Price is my man travel up to Liverpool numerous times to watch him have met him lovely geezer looking forward to his return on the Bellew world title fight undercard .
Have no interest in premier league to be honest never watch it .Have never seen a champions league match all the way through since the old European cup got scrapped.Hate the way money has taken over football.
My other football team fan owned AFC Liverpool .

I would've loved to have been about back when Ali was in his pomp.

I can appriciate the skill involved with UFC, but it's not really for me. I find it too barbaric and utterly unnecessary when someone is sparko on the floor and their opponent is on top of them pounding their defenceless face into the canvas. There's no need for it IMHO...!!

Tyson was a force of nature when he burst onto the scene. He won 99% of his fights before he even got in the ring.

Perfectly illustrated by the close up of Leon Spinks (or maybe it was his brother Michael, I can't remember) stood in the ring absolutely bricking it whilst Iron Mike was making his way to the ring.

I loved Calzaghe. His blurring hand speed and technical brilliance was really something to appreciate as a boxing purist.

He never got the full credit that he deserved. People bang on about "yeah but he never fought in the states" so what...!!

Calzaghe he held all the aces and in spite of all the noise from the likes of Hopkins across the pond about how easy it would be to take his titles back to the states not one of them had the bo!!ocks to come over and back up their talk.

Jeff Lacy to his credit did and Calzaghe basically ended his career.

Do you think David Price can reach elite level Mike (he's spent more time rebuilding his career than Bob the Builder has doing loft conversions)...?

He has the skills it's a confidence thing with him and the Thompson defeats knocked it badly.
I was at both Thompson fights the first one he got caught with a bunch behind his ear messed up his balance he was coasting till then it happens.
Maybe he shouldn't of had an immediate rematch but all hindsight but even then had Thompson down for 12 secs ! Thompson got up Price gassed and stopped him on his feet .
At the time I was amazed how Thompson a could be down that long and b how he got up.
The count one of those things how he got up...know since its drugs.
He went away rebuilt abroad beat a few "Opponents" got European title fight against Teper ,started badly got KO'd and that may of been that.
Turns out Teper had more drugs than a chemist fight result changed to no contest.
Pricey had year out then thought why not give it another go know a lot slag him off chinny etc..BUT it's the trendy thing to say.
He has a massive punch and in heavy weight boxing you connect and that can be it.
I'm hopefull he's just goin to see his far he can go not making any boasts we shall see.
A lot are calling him out they may regret it time will tell.
Calzaghe vastly underrated reckon he'd of taken Froch to the cleaners different level.
Remember the Tyson Spinks fight well Spinks had moved up to heavy weight beaten Holmes twice all be it contrecersial Pts decisions and undefeated as you say Spinks looked across the ring and shat himself !
