Bill Kenwright didn't find it easy either. Everton were a more attractive proposition than most, including ourselves.
I actually was briefly, when the incompetent person thought that someone had gone in and then passed me the same pass to scan in on as well...so confiscated my pass!!! (Eventual apologies and compensatory shop vouchers ensued) Look forward to that happening occasionally with your special scheme passes everyone!
After reading Ehaw's thoughts in the programme, it would be good to get Carly Duffen back. She spoke much more sense.
I guess we'd be bought with the hope of taking us up and then the new (potential) owners could potentially but the stadium and build around it etc... All hypothetical.
They obviously have no problem lying, but if they'd wanted to build this rumour, then they'd simply say nothing and let it run (they're experts at saying nothing). Burnsy's been banging on about Chinese consortiums buying us for months and those stories were bollocks, I suspect this is no different.
I disagree It makes more sense to say it isn't happening. If it does then you can say how you saved the day, the deal could have been scuppered by loose lips so you had to deny it. Good home, please praise us for saving it If it doesn't happen then you can say that you told everyone it wasn't happening And in both scenarios it takes some attention off the scheme, and maybe some people think it might happen and so are happier to renew
I can't believe anyone seriously thinks a Burnsy rumour would do anything to relieve the pressure on the membership scheme.
If you take out most the best selling point of most clubs they're not a great buy. As things stand, if we got promoted we'd be a good prospect, and the Allams acting disgustingly is one of the main causes. The sales value will be based on our current attendances (or membership sales as it's that time of year) and revenues, combined with any changes due to the TV deals offset by our debt. 1) There's not many clubs where a new owner could come in and announce they were going to immediately increase adult prices by over £100 a year and it be popular, but they could here by using it to let kids and OAPs pay reduced prices like they do everywhere else anyway. This would increase revenue. 2) They wouldn't need to spend much this summer on the squad either, not because we've got one capable of staying up without additions, but because they can take the Burnley approach and justify it by saying they're using the majority of PL money to pay off the Allamhouse loan they inherited. We then get relegated in a year's time (it's all the Allams' fault for leaving us in that position etc) and we're a Championship club with a good Championship squad, pretty much debt free, and in receipt of bigger parachute payments than we are now (although not the full amount you get if you stay up for 2 seasons). This minimises the amount they need to invest themselves to being just the purchase price of the club. 3) They can announce they won't try to change the name of the team and put the name back on the badge. Both of which are free and will both increase revenue through people being prepared to buy the merchandise, and create a goodwill and positivity about the place.
I can't believe you don't think the Allams might seriously think it could distract us simple peasants from trying to tell them how to run their business.
All adults all adults pay only a hundred quid more but you return all the concessions?? Don't get how that increases revenue. You seriously think some of the ****ers on here would accept a **** squad In the pl just so we ."might" be ok next year!!! You aren't allowed to do that anyway. I don't think our merchandise sales have been bad at all. In fact I'd say there's more wearing the gear than ever.
Most of the renewals will be adults, so their tickets go up £100 each. The concessions who haven't been able to afford to renew can afford to come back, as will the adults who are boycotting on principle. The revenue from them goes up from 0 to something. This more than offsets the cost of returning the reduced price to the concessions who have renewed already. You think if the new owners blamed the Allams for the situation it wouldn't be accepted given how hostile the fanbase is to the Allams? Without getting into the politics of it, the Tories used that position on every unpopular policy for 5 years in a coalition government and ended up with a majority at the next election. It works because it confirms what people want to believe about the predecessors whilst also allowing the new ones to suggest they want to do more but can't just yet. You're saying you're not allowed to not buy expensive players. Are you confusing it with the weakened team rules, only it doesn't count as fielding a weakened team if you haven't bought the players in the first place.
Sounds easy. But again it's all pie in the sky. Meant to say I assume you're getting rid of the zones and so all adults are paying slightly short of this year which was way too much anyway and why a lot didn't renew.
I thought AP`s backer, namely WILKINSON, bailed or was looking to bail, leaving Pearson to fund the club alone, something which he was unable to do, I may be wrong but I thought his goodbye statement included the suggestion that he did not have the finance to push us any further forward, hence why it was sold on.
