Can't believe we're relying on results going our way to see us over the finish line. 2 points from last 3 games
I would counter that if Bentaleb/Mason/Pritchard/N'Jie had not been injured for so long, then perhaps you would have got what you wanted all season. The past 3 games have been all in the head, not the leg
Sod you Spurs, trying to enjoy a sunny Sunday. Hope City can pick themselves up after midweek and do Arsenal later.
Perhaps this is all just an elaborate wum from our players letting the Arse think they're still in with a chance...
Whilst we have a squad, at the same time, we don't really have a squad. Defensively we've got decent cover, but offensively we have so little. The same few players have stopped the cracks from showing this season because we've been lucky with injuries. Today was a day where we needed some proper squad players to shine. Congrats to son, who did pretty well. Mason was ****e, Chadli offered nothing as usual, and Clinton barely got the ball. Kane should have been taken off, he was poor. - but we have no cover, so we may as well leave him on! Our attacking squad options are a mixture of players who aren't up to it, or non impact subs. Seriously need to address this.
Very disappointing. Still, it's a young team and they must learn from this. Hopefully, they're in the dressing room feeling sick, too. Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy need to acknowledge that we need upgrading and quality competition for a number of positions. The way we're grinding to a halt, it's just as well that top 3 is nailed on.
There was a rumour in the gossip that Bournemouth were going to offer £6m for Mason. I'd be tempted to be honest.
Do we ?? The jury is out on whether a Vert/Wimmer CB combo can perform as well as a Toby/X. No Dembele, and Dier is having to do more to compensate for the likes of Mason today.
The long term picture is the most important thing here. We are in CL next season and have been very good most of this season. The club has a decent recruitment structure so will have seen our weak spots and can hopefully address them early on. We failed to win a game in the first 4 and in the last 3...that will show them that we need players in early and need a bigger squad to rotate so players do not get mentally burnt out which I think we have seen in the past 3 matches We will still be second tonight no matter what so it is still a good season Now can you lot pull yourselves together so I can go back to being a miserable old git?????
If you cannot blame physical reasons, then there is only the head left. What physical reasons are you offering for said performances ??
It's certainly better than what we have going forward! We've got decent cover at full back. Wimmer slots in perfectly when we plays. Dier can be used if desperate and does a decent job. Yes, it could be better, but it's nothing compared to the disruption we see in our front 6.
Absolutely. Infact every time we have had the chance to screw up our rivals, we don't. We could have hit the summit a few times this season, but we don't have the heads for it. A season of almost highs should be used as a foundation to build on to hit the summit or get the right characters in. I hope this lesson is seriously considered before next season kicks off.
That wasn't great and a real shame, as that'll leave a bit of a sour taste in the mouth especially if we don't beat Newcastle next week. We need a big performance up at Newcastle to cap the season off. It was a shame to see Son go off as he was coming close to recapturing his pre-injury form. Clint really didn't do much when he came on. I thought Mason had a good first half but when the team faded a little he really dropped off - I expected more from a player who is comparatively fresh and who should have really driven the team on. We mostly need another genuine striker and cover for Dembele. Striker will have to be bought you'd think but we may see if Bentaleb can develop his game to emulate the effect the Belgian has on the team. I think we'll lose Vorm, Fazio, and a couple of Chadli, Bentaleb, Carroll and Mason to facilitate this.
Long over due win for Saints. For once we didn't hand goals out on a plate. Still, great season from your team and can only see good things ahead for you.
... felt for you lads today ... had an air of inevitability about it ... but neither Spurs or anyone else gave us the title ..... we took it ... if you manage to keep your core and toughen up mentally I think you have a chance of going one better next season as the usual suspects will all be in transition... chins up...
It will be the same old crap on MOTD how a team under performs against the Saints. The facts are in the league positions and a great season for spurs does not mean automatic victory in all games. In fact we have handed out points to teams this year like confetti. If you play like you have this year with a few more in then you will be right up there again.
I agree entirely, and this first came to light after losing the likes of Dembele through injury in Nov and again in Dec 2015. Should have bought decent cover in the transfer window for that midfield position (which after all can be a very physical position to play in). I also believe we should have bought an experience forward in January. A shrewd purchase or two back then, may have got us the title.
