I think the Reidy team just had goals and threat, whereas the Bruce team had guile and shape.

Current is a bit short of both but Kirchoff, Kone, M'Vila and Defoe, maybe Khazri and Kaboul as well on current form would get in either.

I'll say the Reidy team but the games moved on and individual ability overall the current squad fighting relegation is probably better on actual individuals. That Reidy team was a TEAM, that's what made it.

Mate I adored that Reid team I truly did, but that side today, it wouldn't end well.

It was unfit, we were gung Ho, but we had the top 2, the wingers.

We were shirt CM had we got Hutch 2 years earlier we'd have been in Europe no question.

A lot of the defenders we had under Reid were woeful, there's Quinn, Phillips, there's also Holloway, Williams.

It just all worked at the time, but the games moved in and you need to be savvy.

Imagine that Reid team with Kone, Kirchoff and M'Vila. Would have been dynamite.

    And vice versa..

Imagine todays team with a Hutch. A Schwarz.

    A Steed or Bolo.

Lots od good combinations. Just never all together.

    SKP worked with SNQ.

Imagine giving Defoe a SNQ. Just like we talked about earlier with Carroll.

Carroll and Defoe man, what a thought.

I guess the Bruce team was closest to a complete side, maybe 2 players short.

    Think the current needs 5.

The tv commentator - '' from 80 yards ! maybe 100 yards ! He was on the banks of the Wear when he pulled the trigger ''

Don't forget the one he scored at Southampton (a week earlier ?) That one with his left foot, not quite so far out, but still a long run, more defenders around - but another unstoppable shot. I'm actually finding it difficult to say if one was better than the other. Had it been Premiership, he'd have got MOTD goal of the month 1st and 2nd !

I've often wondered how good he could have been in the Prem had he not got injured, he was never the same he was scared to take on his man, was a real shame.
