Aye, as much as I love the bloke, I'd be worried if we were relying on him as first choice striker for the whole of next season. The way I see it, at the very least, he should start as first choice but with someone being slowly brought in (if it's a foreigner or youngen to give them time to adapt) through the season to hopefully replace him completely for the last few months. Not sure we'd get Carroll like, he's first choice at West Ham who are in a very decent position, got a lush new stadium, decent squad, quality manager, and will be pushing for CL football next year. We can't gazump them in terms of salary like we can potentially do with foreign clubs so I'm not sure what we can really offer him that they can't? Also he's a mag, monty would be ganning leet lol.
Oh I fully agree it would be a tough deal to do, but isn't most of his family red and white? Who knows mate, he might fancy being closer to home, I won't say I can see it happening but it's not impossible. He'd be close to my first choice.
I speak the truth so what is wrong with that ? when we lose we all can criticise and when we win, great. They were heroes yesterday and Kirchoff plus Kahzri have been brilliant signings, let's beat Everton now though and finish the job.
Boy! Patronising Aussie git I wouldn't complain for a second about his contribution, but he's no spring chicken and we can't solely rely on him for much longer. He needs a more prolific partner.
Defoe has been immense this season but, like has already been said, he's coming towards the end of his career so we do need another striker. Whoever we sign I doubt will be regularly partnering Defoe as, despite Leicester's success with it, hardly anyone plays 442 anymore and Allardyce seems to prefer the 4141/433. Whoever we sign is more likely to be an alternative. Carroll would be an amazing signing but given his past and the fact that he's loved and adored at West Ham I don't see it happening. Perhaps more importantly in the short term though, we need more goals from the rest of the team.
JD was still chasing, harrying and closing down yesterday in the 90th minute. He's a fit lad who I think will give at the very least one more very good season possibly two. Agreed we need to get somebody in sooner as opposed until waiting until it's too late and if our January signings are anything to go by I'm not overly concerned. Sam must have a good scouting network so would imagine he's already working on this. Would love Mandy here but he's a playboy and in Laandan. Cannot see it happening.
