Not as good as we once were, but here goes. We have invested in our academy, but don't own any of the land its built on. The years of neglect mean we have some catching up to do but we have started and have had some recent success. the ground has been tilled for the future, which looks brighter. We have a huge potential fan base and could move to a 40,000 seat stadium in the future with sustained success. The club has the potential to do link up deals with Siemens and build its commercial income. After the Allams any new owners would have an open door to the Council and an opportunity to do a deal on expanding the stadium. We have had recent success in the Premier League, under two different owners, and have a very good squad of players. I think we have under-achieved this season mainly down to Steve Bruce. I don't think that will stop us getting promotion after winning at Wembley though. We have three years parachute payments coming. We have a large number of disgruntled fans and making them happy wouldn't take too much. Owners who want to invest in a football club with potential to be a fixture in the Premier League would be interested in us. The only question for them would be the price. The only real question for us would be whether they were all fur coat and no knickers.
That phrase makes me shudder, because on old woman in pub used to sit in a way that was impossible to avoid and showed she was literally that. A yawning seal with a mouthful of food doesn't begin to describe it.
Thats all very pie in the sky Obi, sorry. We own nothing. The stadium isnt for sale only a joint venture. Why do you say about moving to a new stadium?
A Steve Gibson type would be sweet, stuck with Boro through thick and thin. Long time since the general feeling amongst the clubs supporters was this bitter and apathetic. Allam OUT
This is a very fair point. It's almost impossible to do a worse job than the Allams when it comes to engaging with fans and if someone with a bit of customer liaison / PR nous came in and addressed very low hanging fruit ie put right everything that the Allams got wrong, then you'd see attendances increase by 5000 overnight.
Quite. And even the PL money can only be regarded as a very short term asset because there's a reasonable chance that if we win the playoffs we'll be relegated twelve months later with any parachute payments sucked up by players' contracts, even after relegation clauses are applied. A viable seller will either need to be someone willing to swallow a big chunk of debt and never get it back, in return for the kudos of owning a PL club. Or someone canny enough to convince Ehab that swallowing that debt himself is a better long term bet than continuing to mis-manage key aspects (not all aspects) of the club's business, whittling away the fan base. There is a third way, but that involves receivership and a fresh start. No thanks.
Goodness me. That's a tad naive, surely. On both counts actually, the efficacy of Burns' tweets and the assertion that Allams don't tell porkies.
Its Sunday morning, I didn't mean move to a new stadium but expand our current one. If you want to buy a football club you don't do it to get rich, usually the opposite. A potential football club owner wants success on the field and is prepared to spend their own money getting it. The higher up the pyramid the more money you need. If our owner hasn't £40 million to spend without borrowing it on the stadium do we really want them? I'm sure Manchester City in 1998 would say their current position was pie in the sky. We have a solid foundation from which to build. The only problem is the £80 million price tag. From a business point of view I'd say we are a better proposition than Villa. Norwich City, Sunderland or Newcastle United won't be up for sale if they get relegated.
How does burnsy get away with dropping these little tit bits & Ehab not banning him? Is burnsy untouchable?
Burnsy isn't to everyone's taste by any means, but he's still about a trillion times more popular in the city than Ehab. Banning him would simply fan the flames.
Ban a journalist for reporting. Are we China? FFS. As for this thread: another two pages of rumour and no fact. Again. Bored of this now. Maybe wait for some real news? The club has potential as it could easily increase revenue if we sustained PL and increased capacity. It has shown it can do it with funds. It's not all pie in the sky, and the best entrepreneurs like a bit of that as it means potentially bigger gains.
no facts intended or suggested not even any rumours actually Just some opinions and thoughts My point is that I don't expect any real news at all...but I could be wrong TWT
Exactly. Dennis is banned from the club. I've just read the letter. So if the away fans are going in West Upper then when are they going to sell tickets in E1-3 and N6 and 7 for us????
This has been pretty well answered but I'd add that if the answer is no, it doesn't mean no one will be interested. Portsmouth during their crisis had new owners once every fortnight. Failing clubs get sold all the time. It might well be another twat like the Allams but I'd take anyone with a fresh start. I don't believe for a second that any club just can't find a buyer at all. It's not about the saleability of the club. It's the willingness of the owners to sell it.
