Those in the East who were nearest appeared to be taking the number of the steward who duffed up the pitch invader while he was on the ground.
As opposed to going to help by giving him a slap.... Jeez only at Charlton would the train spotter tendency be so evident.
I took a photo yesterday of a fan who was clearly elderly and frail (he had a walking stick..) being searched by the Gestapo before he went in. It made me fume I Tweeted the photo and it subsequently got a few hits. The elderly chap's daughter then contacted me last night to say that the fan in question is 82 years old, and has been attending since he was 7 years old. MEIRE - IS THIS ANY WAY TO TREAT YOUR DECENT CUSTOMERS, YOU STUPID F*CKING TWAT !!
Edit. I realise this will be an unpopular post! Whilst I do agree that its fundamentally uncomfortable to see heavy handed stewards searching fans and huge nets apparently blocking views, in all fairness what else were the club going to do yesterday? I suspect they've been working with the FA and the Met Police to plan security and took some of their input. Obviously that doesn't take into account the long story of how we got to this stage - and as you say there seemed to be absolutely no common sense used by individuals - but I had to laugh at some of the over zealous enhanced disgust people were posting on Twitter yesterday about the stewarding. There was a Louis Mendez video of a fan allegedly being pushed over; he clearly wasn't and tripped but I do find it interesting to note how anger influences rational thinking... I'm not saying this shouldn't be exploited to achieve our aims, by painting an image of hostile management and discord; but we should be well aware of the obvious counter argument!
All that extra police presence in the ground must have cost them a fortune. They were much more moderate and professional than the stewards.
That's because they [the Police] are not (by in large) hired in thugs that the regime use in place of stewards!
One of the mosy enjoyable games in ages. Didn't pay any attention to the game past 60 mins... and the battle to get on the pitch from north lower was very enjoyable Highlight of the season tearing that sofa to shreds
