That punch may have hurt a little.

For some reason the 'push both hands out in front of you and turn your head away' defence didn't seem to work...

He typifies boxing today. Feed them wins, hype it up, take the money and run. I said at the time I'd reserve judgement until he'd been challenged. As soon as he fought someone that wouldn't just fall over, his limitations shone out.

It's a shame, because a lot of gutsy, talented athletes put a lot of work into it only for it to become a battle for viewers sold on hype.

I didn't see it, but Khan seems to be getting a lot of credit this morning, he was apparently boxing brilliantly and was well ahead until he got caught.

There's the rub. He's fast and accurate, which is his main defence, and looks good. Once he meets someone that can take his punch, he's limited in what he can do to deal with it.

Yep, it applies to quite a few. I'm still reserving judgement on Joshua. I hope he's an exception that proves the rule, but it says a lot when the commentators knew next to nothing about his last opponent, and held a championship belt.

I think that's the most shocking overhand ive ever seen, ive just watched that repeatedly about 20 times over <laugh>. Credit to khans skull for remaining in one piece, I'm genuinely surprised his head didn't burst open like a watermelon.

Just watched the fight. Always easy with hindsight, but whilst Khan's flashy style may nick points, Canelo's work was effective even early on, and he looked far more comfortable. Canello seemed content to let Khan get his moments on the main stage, before going to work himself.

Khan was in his top gear, while Canelo looked to have several levels to go to if he needed them, plus the knowledge he has the ability to knock over robust fighters and Khan is always vulnerable, particularly with the weight difference.

The knock down looked even more spectacular on the tv, he was asleep from the split second the punch landed..

Still, he has 6,000,000 reasons to feel it was worth it.

Canelo fought with the air of a man who knew that no matter how brilliantly Khan boxed he was always going to get a shot at his chin - it was a mug match taking on someone used to fighting, and knocking out, guys two weights heavier than Khan ....... as you say, the pay day will ease his pain.

He certainly didn't look like any of the Mexicans who used to routinely KO Charlie Magri - a man who could KO any European with either hand but he had no answer to the hard chins of Mexican ''road-sweepers''.

I can imagine it now, Miguel looking at the new born and saying "there's something bothering me Morag"

Mind you, it probably proves he wasn't adopted. :bandit:.
