Just had a look, and apparently we made a £9.9 million profit in 2014 and a £18.7 million profit in 2015. According to http://www.transferleague.co.uk/newcastle-united/english-football-teams/newcastle-united-transfers , included in those figures, in 2013/14 we made a £19.1 million profit on transfers and in 2014/15 we made a £17.2 million loss on transfers. This season we have made a £73.15 million loss on transfers, so a lot will depend on whether our income from other sources increased along with how much our wage bill increased. Next year a lot could depend on which players we are able to move on and what our wage structure will look like. Worryingly, this might come into play with MA looking at Rafa's wages - even if he did decide to stay.
We've not made a loss on transfers. That doesn't count towards FFP as I understand it; it's our actual profit and loss account that is monitored. This season our trading balance is -£73m on transfers but we've paid for that out of money in the bank that we saved from years gone by. With the actual profits we've made I think there is leeway in there because our accountants have used amortisation to reduce the actual profits reported so we have more money to play with (I think) in terms of future seasons and not having to report a loss or reporting a smaller loss if they fiddle with amortisation.
You are not down yet...We need a win or 2 draws....yes we were incredible today behind twice and came back to win. You can beat the Spuds...as your awful away form is reversed at home. I am not counting chickens just yet..will yell my head off on Wednesday and hope we sneak a win. P.s. where us the true geordie..I love to listen to him when you do not well
I think the gist of it is the FFP would only really become more of an issue if we don't come straight back up or within a couple of seasons. I say that because I think we would definitely make a loss in that first season in we are relegated (I think it was about £30m last time?). There are other things available to the club though - I heard rumours of Ashley putting together a sponsorship deal for SD to actually start paying for their advertising. Could be used to offset losses. I honestly think we would have enough money from our player sales that we'll have the option to not make much of a loss at all. Last time we were selling/releasing Owen, Viduka, Duff, Martins, etc who brought in not a lot. This time we would be selling Sissoko, Perez, Wijnaldum, Townsend, Cisse, Tiote. There would be a lot of money brought in.
I don't think there is any danger of that. The only possibility of even entering those realms would be if Ashley decided to sell up and call in the loans - which he wouldn't do as he'd get pennies in the pound if we went bust. I was more concerned about our chances of putting together a squad that would get us back up and be able to compete once (if) we got back up. We still have the parachute payments for the next three years though, so that will help. Not sure if it is 55% of this year's prize money or next year's prize money for the team in our finishing position (think it is this year's though).
hes not going anywhere Ashley ... we are a unique club . everyone knows the black n whites ... good support we just not going to drop away lads . we are not plankton like others
And that's why things will stay as they are. Until your fans manage to unite and stay away, nothing will change, Believe me, if Newcastle were running out before 10,000 fans, things would change in a heart beat, but not while you are all still turning up.
yes I know what your saying and which I am with to a certain degree. when he spent money I thought oh well ... I honestly think now .he must know his team around him are just clowns ... if if if .. there will be a drop off like not sure how many
Yes but at least Ashley provided money for your manager in the January window...Townsend looks worth it, but what has happened to Shelvey and did you not buy another striker? We brought in the Dame useless, Kirchhoff, brilliant, Kone awesome and Kharzi settled in nicely. Although none of them you could say was splashing the cash, Also Fletcher was sent on his holidays in the S France, and he is better than the Dame. So yes you may not like Ashley but he has by and large always provided funds...our man seems to be tightening the purse strings
I don't think you can fault the investment this season, although we are suffering from a lack of steady investment. However Ashley is ultimately responsible for appointing Charnley, who in turn is responsible for appointing McClaren, has a 3rd share of responsibility for how we wasted 80 odd million as a member of the transfer board, and most importantly sat on his hand far too long before firing McClaren. Benitez was available from the 4th January . So Ashley is responsible. I just don't think he is very good at picking someone to run the club for him. He does not understand football as a business.
