Lots of good points in there. It isn't the end of the world. The club and our support goes on. On a personal level, it does still hurt everytime we get relegated. Like anyone, I want to see us as high up the league as we can be - not because of the money or prestige of the Premier League, but in the vain hope that we might win something in my lifetime (I was born a few months after the Fairs Cup win). While a cup win is not impossible from a lower league, it is far less likely. Doesn't stop us dreaming though.
I can't see how anyone can have a dig at Dummett today, we didn't exactly have much defending to do for 90 minutes and last time I looked Villa scored **** all. Have a go at the Midfield for lack of creativity and up front for missing clear chances, but having a go at Dummett. Some fans really should give their heads a good slap and hope they knock some sense into it.
For the match, Benitez takes a bit of blame on this. No way after his recent showings should Papiss "Air Shot" Cisse play. He should be struck off like Marv, Gabby, Saylor and Colo. Perez should have started up front and Wijnaldum hooked for Aarons at half time. That said, we could have scored 5. Mitrovic was a pure-bred donkey, utter garbage. He had three fantastic crosses, fcked em all, and a clear chance and lumped it over the top. Benitez doesn't miss. I am still optimistic - I'll watch Sunderland/Everton and hope nerves come into it. It's been a weird season and I still feel there's another twist in it, but if we go down it will have been well earned. I'd prefer to stay up and restructure, but if we go down then fine, let's just hope lessons have been learned from Rafa's brief stint.
dummet done fine today watched the whole match .... villa killed the game with there negative approach of 11 men behind the ball . really we should of won if colback not missed that sitter . you could of got someone out the stands the day and they would of hit the target the chance he had ...
They might........................... but we wont beat Spurs, not a chance. The fat lady might not be singing yet, but she's in the dressing room gargling some honey tea and practising her scales.
Of course there's a chance we'll beat Spurs. Underdogs beat superior opposition on an almost weekly basis. It's a funny old game you know.
Exactly this. I'm not counting my chickens just yet. I think we'll lose to Everton personally, which means the final day will be nervy as ****
Oh, we might already be relegated going into next Sunday's game, but all I'm saying is there is a chance we will beat Spurs. We've beaten superior teams at SJP over the years and we've beaten Spurs plenty of times.
Everton at least have something to play for, as they're still battling for the midtable positions, and sunderland's form is erratic - I.e. being rubbish at stoke last week but very good against Chelsea this week. Just gotta hope hubris gets the better of the mackems, unlikely but it's all we can cling to. And the end of the day, Villa are horrendous, one of the worst teams the Prem has ever seen, and we couldn't even beat them home or away this season, no one can say we deserve to stay up after that.
It really does beggar belief. God forbid we slaughter fans favourite Mitro for not being able to hit a cows arse with a banjo. Or Gini and Andros etc for creating **** all and not being able to beat a man.
Leicester were only two minutes away from not beating them at home and drew away so does that mean they deserve to go down? Thought not. Having watched us we have been unlucky but what I can't accept is that it took us so long to sack McClaren.
Leicester's draw with Villa was much earlier in the season when Villa were actually fighting for something and were vaguely bothered, Villa were there for the taking on Saturday and we put in a completely lacklustre performance. While Leicester might have struggled to get points from Villa, you can't fault their lack of effort....indeed their effort eventually paid off by getting a win at the death after working their arses off all game. We on the other hand went their when it really mattered and just didn't seem bothered. My point your quoted was meant to illustrate that that performance on Saturday basically epitomised the whole season - just not good enough and not bothered, and that's why we deserve to go down.
Although we have had bad luck this season on the whole, the reason we will be relegated (if we are) is all the games where our players turned up and didn't give a flying **** about winning the match.
