Why would anyone want to host then? I think it's good that people that wouldn't normally get a chance can go. I do think 8,000 is a little high though
Thing is though I don't think the 8k on its own is a bad figure, but when you take into account there's 10k for LFC, 10k for Sevilla there's another 10k tickets missing from somewhere, that's what we should be questioning IMO.
The other 10k was explained earlier. All sponsorship etc. 10k is a bloody lot for that imo but that's where the money is I guess
Yeah, that's true. It's a shame because having over 25% attendance of sponsorship people etc. doesn't do anything for the atmosphere or the quality of the final. I've read on other forums that the problem with the Europa league is that they haven't managed to fill the stadiums in the last few years. The problem is it ****s teams like Liverpool over, who have a massive away following, because we could easily take 30k away to an European final IMO.
Would think that the host club get the same in revenue from the final whether locals get tickets or not, probably more given that more beer and food will be consumed at the stadium by fans of the finalists than the locals that have a meal and a drink at home. The local people that dont go to matches by choice shouldn't get a look in when it comes to tickets, but it happens in all finals domestic and European so that's why a stadium size and ticket allocation should reflect the finalists allocation. But it will never change because the organisers never listen to clubs in finals or their supporters and they're guaranteed a seat so why should they listen.
Not really, look at the way Anfield and Goodison were and have been overlooked for FA Cup semi-finals down the years because of ground size, the same ones were used season after season. Rotation is good but stadiums with large capacities are a better option when necessary imho.
UEFA SAY they use bigger for CL but this being the **** cup they "reward" **** countries who pay them enough....
To be fair though it was hosted in Juventus' stadium in 2014 and sold 33k out of 41k. Then it went to Warsaw and they sold 45k out of 56k. There's talk there won't be much Sevilla fans either, because of the fact they are playing Copa del Rey final on 22nd of May in Madrid.
After LFC had to play Roma in their home Olympic Stadium in the EC final Uefa said that never again would a team in any of their comps be allowed to play at home in a one game final. Basel reached the quarter final of this season's EL and the final is at their home ground. So thankfully they never reached the final or they'd have ended with 2 thirds of the tickets.
Didn't that happen with Bayern Vs Chelsea in 2012. Didn't seem to work in their favour that time either.
We don't complain about Arsenal ticket prices either, probably because its not relevant to Liverpool supporters at the time
Ah but that's cos we focus on next game and not like plastic chavs and mancs thinking about finals before we get there
Like when they moaned about Liverpool playing Dalglish's Blackburn at Anfield and that we were going to let them win and how unfair it was. They forgot they had to beat West Ham
Ah right, so UEFA should change their rules because a minnow (in current European terms) has reached a final?
