Yes, but 'incredible'. Big word. And not one I'd associate with him.

Yeah, something about using us to showcase his talents in a better league to get a move to one of the top teams. That was also right at the end of the summer of meltdown 2014, so I remember a fair few kicking off about this comment. Some other people were saying (rightly imo) that if he does do enough to move on in 2/3 years to one of the top clubs then it would be good for Saints as he obviously would be performing well. Now here we are 2 years later and the rumours are circling about him leaving. If he goes, he goes, and I won't be massively fussed. Unplayable on his day but too inconsistent for a side like us to be turning down 25/30m for

It makes me happy to hear so many (IMO, lol) well reasoned views here.

I felt like at times, I was the only one banking the "every player has a price" drum. We had the same Mane for 30m discussion last year. Felt like I was the only one saying I'd strongly consider selling at that price.

I would love to keep Mane here, as I think he has the potential to be truly world class. But it won't happen if he doesn't want to be here.

I'm definitely not. I know that for an absolute 100% fact.

He's one I genuinely think would be better off staying, developing, and trying *hard* for another season at Saints. And that's not just my bias either.

I agree. Also, unlike VW earlier in the season, I've not heard anywhere that Mane is bucking to leave. OK, that might mean nothing, especially as it is said he threatened to go on strike at his previous club, but he really looks as though he's happy and committed at Saints.

In my case, I can't guarantee that my Saints bias isn't showing. ;)

The trouble is that I don't think the players are unhappy at Saints. You don't get three consecutive Top 8 finishes from an unhappy camp. It's just they all have that itch about the more glamorous teams that they can't scratch. Throw in the money and these players just have to give it a try, rather than wonder what might have been.

But also they might prefer to play regular football. Being a king in your own back yard, rather than a nobody in another means quite a lot to some. And there's far less difference these days.

Using solely statistics is ignorant. You could say Vardy is better than Aguero because he has scored more than him over one season. You haven't taken into account that Tadic has played alongside better players and in a more successful team. In lallana's first premier league season we struggled for survival for the most part.

Saints team when lallana played: 14th and 8th,
    with Tadic: 7th and ?

You must also analyse how they actually play in a game as the overall effect they have can be ignored when solely looking at goals and assists. There is a reason Liverpool came in with a £26m bid for Lallana and no body has tried to buy Tadic. That reason isn't that he is English before you say that, that does inflate the price but that's it.

Tadic does more for us, it's as simple as that.

I wonder how many minutes each of them has played. I am guessing it's not an impressive number.

He really doesn't. Lallana was far more influential, hence why he was always a regular starter. Whereas Tadic has been on the bench plenty of his time at saints, especially this season. My point of lallana going to a big club for 26m and Tadic attracting no interest at all is also very telling.

My point was mainly that he was an I credible player for saints throughout his time here. Taking just his premier league form into account then be was indeed incredible at times. Not constantly throughout the two years but he was a very good player. Hence whyou he got multiple England call ups and was sold for 26m...

Good player, no doubt, but I think you're somewhat overestimating his influence.

He was very good. Your point seems to be he was so much better than Tadic though as that's what you said.

I wonder what Tadic would have looked like in league 1 :)
