Trade you for Norwich away. I guess the answer is probably not much more than this year, so I still think it was the right decision.

And therein lies the rest of the problem. Players know that with one year left they will cause us severe headaches in selling so they have extra power a year ahead of that; they have so much of the power in their (or rather their agent's) hands from about two years out. So Sadio's agent has leverage. "Les, get loads for him now with two years left or wait till next year when we'll really have you over a barrel, as will any prospective purchaser, knowing he has last-yearitis"

I wouldn't be classing that as a similar loss to Mane and Vic. Pelle is wrong end of his career, the other two are young and lost more to offer.

What flt says, Pelle isn't first choice in my mind. Saying that though if he goes will still need a replacement for the squad.

For the record can I just state at no point have I mentioned anything about a 'lack of ambition' or judging the replacements. Just that by law of averages I don't think you can do what we've done the past 2 Summers and maintain your success and/or improve. Recruitment is generally 50-50 in any business.

Again I'm hoping this Summer will be different and we won't be needing such a re build. Massive Summer for us this one, arguably biggest since being promoted again.

Not going to happen. ? And VVD signs an improved two year extension. That's the first.

And remember, Leicester aren't going to win the PL. Oops, they have. ;)

I agree. If Mane gets the chance to move to a big club, he will try and take it. And he could be a jerk about it.

I'm just saying if you want that big club move you have every incentive to play well. If Mane had tanked it while at Salzburg, we wouldn't have wanted him. He had to establish his value first. If Mane had been more consistent this year, he'd be holding all the chips right now.

So I don't buy the conspiracy theory. I suppose the question might be raised as to whether Mane's poor play at times was because he was trying too hard score wonder goals to up his value at the expense of team contribution. Or had trouble motivating himself against smaller clubs. I don't think that is the case but something more subtle like that is possible. I just don't think it was a deliberately engineered plan.

I think Mané is a lot more of a solid and decent character than some give him credit for. I may be wrong, but that's something I've heard from people in the club.

Tadic is some way off lallana. Dislike him all you want be he was incredible for us in league 1, championship and the premiership. Also, no one complained about his consistancy at the time, he was praised week in week out, and rightly so.

That is part of a designed plan, though. You take calculated risks. Sometimes it will work out, and sometimes it won't. You expect the bag to be mixed, but you buy and sell at prices so that in the end you yield a net profit, despite some individual losing investments.

We signed Cedric for 3.6m. That's chump change. I'm quite happy with that deal. I think he could still end up being quite good, but if not he is a decent backup at a decent price.

    Er * raises hand

Go back and look at our first season in the Premier.... He got a lot of stick and wasn't playing at all well.

I think Beefy's comment about inconsistency is right. Lallana had two seasons in the premier league (don't throw league one in there!!) for Saints and I'd say he had a poor first half and better second half season 1, followed by excellent first half and ok second half of the second season.

Tadic has done similar; electrifying when he first came; poor second half. Poor first half this season, better second half.

It would be very, very close to call, however if both were at their best, Tadic just edges it for me.

I don't dislike him, so that's argument out the way. The bolded part is true but that wasn't the Prem. So far Tadic has been the better in the Prem.

    Lallana:
    2015/2016:
    Games: 29
    Goals: 4
    Assists: 6

    2014/2015
    Games:27
    Goals: 5
    Assists: 3

    2013/2014
    Games: 39
    Goals: 9
    Assists: 8

    2012/2013
    Games: 30
    Goals: 3
    Assists: 6

    Total:
    Games: 124
    Goals: 21
    Assists: 23

    Tadic:
    2015/2016:
    Games: 32
    Goals: 8
    Assists: 11

    2014/2015:
    Games: 31
    Goals: 4
    Assists: 8

    Total:
    Games: 63
    Goals: 15
    Assists:19

    So Tadic:
    Has played 61 less games.
    Has 6 less goals.
    Has 4 less assists.

But yeah Lallana is clearly better....

Agreed with the price re Cedric. Sensible calculated risk.

Yeah, but we know he forced his way out of Salzburg by refusing to play. So it could happen again.

I remember when Puncheon was on the outs with us and he would still tweet with some of the players. Mane could be a nice guy and well-liked and all of that, but if he has the chance to double his wages and fulfill his career ambition of playing for Man U...well, business is business.

Agreed. His agent also made a statement about stepping stone (or similar) the week he signed for Saints.

He had a purple patch with us start of season two, to be fair.
