The disappointing thing for me was we had 6 corners and didn't even look like threatening the goal. About 4 flew to the other side of the pitch without being touched. RNK 6 shots at goal + 5 Off target Fulham 2 shots at goal + 1 Off target Schwarzer -6 Saved most of the shots on goal easily. Baird -5 Solid, no overlapping runs. Hangeland -6 Dealt with all the high balls Hughes -5 one mistake that nearly led to goal. JA Riise -5 Couped with attack most of the game, one scuffed freekick. Briggs -5 Kept getting ball stuck under his feet, one chance on goal blocked. Etuhu -3 Kept giving ball away, poor tackling Murphy -4 No real spark, poor delivery Duff -5 A few good runs but overall no real threat. Zamora -4 Poor control, 2 shots one dipping over the bar, the other tame shot to keeper. Johnson -4 no real threat except one cross-come shot that the keeper turned over. Sidwell -4 sub for Etuhu made no difference Kasami -5 sub for Zamora, good run and dangerous cross into box saved by keeper.
I missed the game entirely, so I make no comment about who played well or badly. But I seem to remember Bobby signing a new contract last season shortly before his injury which made him our best paid player at £50,000 a week. It may have been £40,000, but I'm sure the reports said he was our best paid player. In which case he isn't paid less than Valjing's favourite pinata.
Unfortunately Tosh, most of the cliches that Mr Speedie came out with were horribly true on the night. One in particular I remember, "Etuhu is not at the races". Tell me he was wrong. I find it painfull to give the players marks out of 10. Primarily because I blame the tactics employed by the manager. At this time I will revert to my own cliche, "Least said, quickest mended".
