Always a good chat on here, we've got a good mix of active and not-so-active posters, both old and new, a good mix of opinions on lots of matters, and I think posters and Mods set a much better tone for both debate and banter on this board than most of the others on the site, though I don't 'travel' much. Sad to have lost a one or two this year I think but we've had some great new additions too. Its good to have a few in denial Spurs fans on here as well, even our Leicester and Southampton 'friends'.
A season to remember on the pitch and on here too. So many excellent posters, some great debates and generous amounts love and hate at various times. As a shift worker who is often working when the matches are on I am particularly indebted to the match day threads, that are always way ahead of the BBC or Sky in bringing goal updates, and a much better barometer of how we are playing than the so called experts. I am in complete agreement about the mods who do a great job and the Spurs fans on here who create interesting and informative threads that generate interest and debate, keep it up one and all.
I'll just be echoing everyone else's thoughts more or less. CK and Brian are top top posters. I share their thoughts, but I'm usually not calm enough to express them like these two. Actually the calm bit is for CK, Bri got some fire in him I sense him revving up at times lol. I love what Rainman brings to our board. He loves his numbers and wums the wums with intelligence. Then there is HBIC. A quirky yid with stalker tendencies....I admire both traits. There's the transfer talk gang where I usually bump into Moorpheus, SOS and Roo along with the regulars on here. We have the Sporadic RCL...what a ****ing mental mess he can be. I like that, he keeps our feet on the ground with his pessimism, but you can tell deep down he probably dreams more than all of us put together. Shout out to Spurcat too, i bump into him in The Bill Nick mostly. Its always good to know who the ref is going to be a week early and how Harry Redknapp is doing lol. Absolutely love the Prediction leagues. Its my Saturday morning breakfast time equivelant of a crossword. I've got family members who's job it is to remind me to not forget to make my predictions. I've been stuck in traffic or walking through Tescos in the morning when other trivial things try to get in the way and I've had to request the I phone to get them in by 12.45 Saturday afternoon. Cheers for that Spurf and SD, fantastic effort. Then we have our mods. PNP, YV and Spurf. You can tell why they are mods, just like you can tell why I'm not. Good job boys. Not only modding but their opinions too...I can tell if Spurf wasn't a mod he would throw some meaty abuse at the wumming I love the input every poster brings and their style of posting, that's what fascinates me the most. RobSpur, Changing man, Pabird, Vim,Maggie,RDC, Hudd, Wondering Yid, TTID, Rebel(prediction king), Deedub, Bald Archie, our Yank RWB, kingHotspur and everyone I may have missed. Respect to you all for bringing your personalities to the board. We also have Hiag and Spaniard(NSIS). Much love to them for keeping the Spurs flag flying against every wum going. Can't forget the annual acknowledgement of our residential United fan Luke. That guy is an enigma. Rarely a day goes by where I won't log in for a read and to drop a few strategic likes because a like saves a 1000 words sometimes. Its good to be a Spurs fan. Cheers lads. COYS.
Hadn't actually thought that far ahead, I just wanted to be different . I'll have to get back to you on that once I've found something witty (may take a while ).
HBIC is there any way we can see your poster of the season? The one fixed to your bedroom wall with blu-tac...
I really enjoy coming on here and chatting and me bothering you lot has probably saved Mrs Remember and the girls sanity! The mods deserve a lot of credit on here for keeping our board friendly, welcoming and interesting. Other boards have become a bit of a mess with constant (and boring) rows or have died a death as the crappiness on them pushed people away. Loads of posters on here deserve a lot of credit but the stand outs are Spurf for the Prem prediction league...SD for the spurs prediction league and PNP for the match day threads. The one poster I wish posted more often is Maggie ... I love her memories of yester year. I am really glad I found not 606 back in the day...genuinely could not imagine a better site. Just one thing confuses me about the site though...WTF makes you think I am pessimistic? ???
Very occasionally, but as I've said before, it bores me. I can (and do) discuss Utd with real people every day The discussion on here (and other similar forums) tends to be one dimensional and ends up as a private bickering session between cliquey posters.
I'd say PNP's match threads deserve special mentions. He's done a great job taking over from 6061 this season Other than that, you're all great contributers in my eyes Even back at the start of the season when there was probably more splits in opinions on Spurs and our chances, it led to a lot of good conversation and interesting points being made. It's been nice to see a few more new/more active users this year too, think it will be time for me to do another "what I think you all look like" thread soon @Spurs or Sex? I keep meaning to do more of them but it always slips my mind. Feel free to PM the mods as to suggestions for what other users might have. As for you, how about the logical follow up question "Arsenal or dysentery?"
It’s a wonder that we have been able to maintain a genuinely interesting board, considering how easy it is for boards to go off the rails. Our mods deserve special credit, as they have to find the right balance between allowing dissenting opinions and banter, and preventing interesting conversation from being hijacked. While I look forward to reading what all our regular posters have to say, I’m particularly impressed by our new and newish posters, like CK and Brian, and the way banter with our rivals has improved, especially with some of the Liverpool supporters. So the poster of the year has to be suck ed out of the depths of my mind at some future point in time. Which is a strange thing to say, as my mind is so very shallow.
I'll get on it. The trouble is trying to find a happy medium between it being too easy and over in an hour before many have taken part and being too hard when interest wanes very quickly.
