Celtic have an excellent record in the development league and such like. Makes you wonder why very few have had a chance in the first team in the decade plus they have dominated in Scotland.

Just needs a clued up manager to give them a chance and Celtic need to only spend cash on key players fur a euro run .

Whatever we think of warbuton , he might have an eye for a young player due to his work with the elite youth set up .

They sold McGinn to Hibs who is in line for Championship player of the year and is quality. The other player on loan at Hibs is the same(canny mind his name at the mo). You have the likes of Allan and Christie who are excellent young players and have had very little encouragement at Celtic park this season.

Celtic have dominated the youth leagues for over a decade now and yet Effe Ambrose still comes on today to make a **** of it. Surely out of all those teams there must have been a decent CB that should have had a chance.

Don't get me wrong, Rangers are.no better. We have been forced to use youth players due to circumstances but now we are signing 19 year olds from down south when a player of Andy Murdochs ability will probably not get a sniff.

    I don't disagree ...

Hopefully new manager has cuts the deadwood , bins folk like efe, boyata n johansen , and has a core of players taken from our development squads ... We have a good squad when you get into it , just get rid of some and only sign players that are better than what we have .

Winning development leagues mean nothing if it's not producing players for the 1st team.

For a lot of those years we had an arms race vs Rangers where winning the league was the priority. Youth development mattered not if playing those inexperienced/young players meant dropping points

Recently playing Tierney Armstrong GMS Boyata McGregor Rogic Bitton and a few others at times has helped our manager out of a job despite winning two leagues on the trot

Who would risk youth development players now that we must have Europe after Xmas AND win the league playing attractive football by 20+ points?

Tierney biton and rogic have all played well this season overall

The other 3 mentioned have not ... One in particular was a ****in bombscare

others young players did not get a chance when said manager couldn't see that his other picks where pish ...
His inability to see past folk like efe n johansen was a major pain in the hole

This , and the teams utter failure to get past teams with a fraction of Celtics budget in Europe , along with some utter ****in dire football, helped him out of a job

But don't let that stop you believing he got a raw deal

So we have had at least half our starting eleven featuring young players and won 2 league titles doing that. Playing unattractive football and getting pumped out of Europe were his downfall

Winning leagues with young players in an attractive style and continuing to punch above our weight in Europe is Lisbon Lions form

Young players with no experience who can drop into teams and play like seasoned pros are potentially world class players

Am I in the right forum...? I thought this was the Celtic page not Real Madrid

Mindy delivers a howitzer right into the fatlhads gut and steps back as the ensuing fat-wave engulfs his body causing a cellulite themed vortex which leaves Paul stunned and unable to breath as he reaches for the inhaler. <laugh><ok>

Did Delia stick with pretty much the same team week in week out ?

Did he keep playing efe ambrose when everybody could see he was not the answer ?

Did he give squad players a chance ?

Christie and Allan ... No experience ?

A squad that has enough midfielders to play as a starting 11 but he plays the same 4 or 5

    Johansen

You think expecting Celtic to beat Malmö or Maribor is expecting Lisbon lions or Real Madrid level ? <laugh>

Allan is **** his major contribution being giving the ball away and letting ajax beat us. Christie came back to us in the new year injured.

Yes he gave squad players a chance it's why he didn't really stick with the same squad week in week out

Must have worked as he won 2 league titles doing it

We were also unfortunate to be pumped out of Europe by Inter Milan where some of his young players shone

No you were not paying attention...expecting ALL those things is REAL MADROD like

Side stepping the issue of Celtic not beating Maribor or Malmö ... Teams with a smaller budget than Celtic . Is expecting to beat them unrealistic ?

Allan's never had a chance . He's looked decent ... Apart from that one bad pass ffs <doh>

If Delia was in charge of his signings, as hes claimed , then he deserves to be let go as he's brought in loads and never gave most of them a chance .

Where are Cole n Colin today ?

Your obviously a Delia fanboy ... So , I'll leave you to believe that he's had a raw deal even tho he : stuck by ambrose and Johansen , nearly getting rid of griffiths , not beating Malmö ,

    Yes Real Madridesque <doh>

He made Griffiths the player he is today. Griffiths said so

Remember Griffiths won POTY at Hibs, Lennon said he wouldnt even have made his team then subsequently "Lennon signs Griffiths"

I don't believe Ronny said he made signings...he said he agreed to sign those players...which is a bit ambiguous

Allan was beat to the starting line up by Christie and the Subs appearance by Aitchinson. Allan was a two fingers to Ibrox signing and nothing more

Sorry if that upsets you as you seem to be an Allan fanboy

Ambrose plays more due to defensive injury and Johansen was last year's POTY

Yes we should beat Maribor but we've been pumped by a worse team while under the guidance of the current Scotland manager

It's not about a raw deal. It's about some fans demanding everything this season that no manager has achieved at Celtic since Stein

    That was great today.

So many good young players at the club right now that might, if we find the right manager, lead to us building the core of a team that could play together for years...getting a bit boring players leaving after18 months and teams constantly being broken up. Be good if the new guy got the chance to build more and sell less.

We only need to repeat what we have just done and then it's <party>time! <cheers>

If you think what I hope for is over the top them fair enough ...I just think we can or should expect better .

He nearly gave griffiths to hibs!

He only went back to griffiths as his signing cifcti was utter ****e.

I've talked about ambrose enough before but if we have no other options at CB then Celtic need to scrap the development team defence . If we have no good cbs at that level better than efe then <doh>

Johansen might have been last seasons poty but that's doesn't mean he should get a free ride this season . He's been ****in gash ... A waste of a space in the team ...

In terms of Allan , I don't think that Celtic are that pathetic ... I would hope not ., seeing as the budget is small

Again, why you keep looking back to past seasons . Just cause we got ****ed by worse under strachan means we should accept getting beaten by Malmö ! Aye ok

If you're happy with progress then fair enough ... I don't think he was an utter disaster but he should have demanded help - a DoF might have helped him .

Anyway, we'll see if we get a good manager who will get more out of this squad than Delia did.

We might end back at square 1 or might actually progress .
