Clattenburgs incompetence was the main cause of the problems in this match has been banned too? Perhaps the FA should take the Cup Final off of him and that assistant should be given the same time off as Moussa.
Just in case it wasn't clear to everyone which side The FA's bread is buttered... * Diego Costa claws at Laurent Koscielny's face, he receives a three-game ban * Mousa Dembele claws at Diego Costa's face, he receives a six-game ban Any questions?
I'm going to go out on a limb here, and suggest that he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. If he'd started dishing out yellows from the first whistle, and it didnt quiet things down, it would have been 6 a side by the end. In this instance, I think being overly critical on him is somewhat harsh.
And he would have been vindicated. If I tell the players they have ten mins to calm down, and then the yellows come, and they still behave so, they are obviously too stupid.
Yes you maybe right, but I think that he had the opportunity to take control early and chose not too. We will never know if that would have helped, but we do know that the way he did manage the match didn't work
No punishment for this either, second picture was laughably given a yellow please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Guys, ignore the twat, please! I can't even be bothered to reply to the limp wums of some so called "moderator" Perhaps our own mods can encourage him to **** off?
Well, it highlights the lack of any consistency does it not, and that players of certain clubs appear to be treated more favourably than those of others.
And Defoe got a yellow for this but the feller but in your vids got an 8 match ban for doing the same thing. So it could have been worse for Defoe and worse for Dembele, the FA chop and change their punishments all the time.
Agreed. But I think previous should be a big consideration. In Dembele's case, there really isn't any.
A three game ban is ok and acceptable. A four game ban is, well we'll take this one on the chin and accept it and then move on. A five game ban is definitely harsh. A six game ban is ridiculous and certainly excessive. I hope he and the club appeal this one.
His previous was in a different league in a different country for which he received a 7 match ban I think, but he fully deserved it and the Ivanovich and Chellaini bans. I don't think one off offences matter where the FA are concerned, tbf Dembele's punishment could have been worse than the 6 and apparently he admitted the offence which gave the FA the ok to give him whatever punishment they felt in the mood to dish out.
I don't know about any of that, PMK. I just know that since he's been with us, 5+yrs, there's never been anything like that. But, I suppose, anybody can be provoked into violence if pushed enough.
I guess what really pisses us off is that chief instigator in general, Costa, gets away with it yet again!
The FA's main purpose is to bring the game into disrepute. John Terry's racism ban was 4 matches. None of it makes any sense. Why Moussa's retaliation was twice as bad as Fellaini's or Wickham's flying elbows, only they would know. I've seen Gary Steven's career ended by an assault by Vinnie Jones; Milija Aleksic and Gary Mabbutt require major facial surgey following premeditated launched elbows by Joe Jordan and Fashanu. None of these assailants faced any charges whatsoever. The FA's agenda is a mystery to any logical analysis. They allow Diego Costa, Huth, Luis Suarez and their ilk to commit vicious and snide attacks on real genuine professionals and woe betide anyone who loses their temper! Baffling! Ridiculous!
The opinion of 2 senior professionals from the BBC website:- Stoke and former Republic of Ireland keeper Shay Given told BBC Radio 5 live that he thought the punishment was "way too high". "Looking at the incident, did he stick his finger in his eye and actually gouge his eye?" he said. "I've seen worse tackles on the field which don't get a suspension or a maximum of three matches. If someone is going to go in two-footed, lunging, and their opponent are out for six to nine months with a broken leg and they don't get a ban - I don't understand that. "Dembele's fingers weren't right in his eye. He scraped a bit of his face. I think it is harsh. I know the FA are trying to send a message that this isn't acceptable, but I've seen worse things on a football pitch." Former West Brom striker Jason Roberts agreed, saying: "Things happen on the pitch that can genuinely hurt somebody - like Fellaini's elbow on Huth. That in my opinion was much more dangerous and more of an issue than what Dembele did." What a surprise. Professional footballers want to be protected from vicious, injurious assaults. Who would have thought? As usual, the FA have been unable to distinguish their metaphorical arse from their disciplinary elbow. It's the career threatening attacks that are the problem, Stupid!
What it all comes down to is Chelsea' provocative mouthings before and during the game.......and they get away with it. Their intimidation was in the Donald Trump class!
