I reckoned it would be 5-6. Ridiculous considering that he has no history of behaving like that, as well as the fact that the linesman was standing next to them when it happened...but his behaviour was still inexcusable, as was his overall performance last week. In a funny way, this may actually work to our advantage. There's no question Poch will be looking to strengthen the CM area, what with Tom and probably one of Ryan and Nabil (maybe both) heading for the exit. We do need better options there, I don't think anyone can argue with that. The fact that he misses the first 4 games of next season should mean that instead of our usual faffing about in the market, we pull our finger out and get someone in nice and early so that they are fit and ready for the opening game of the season. It seems harsh now, but could well be a blessing in disguise.
Can we appeal that, as it's absolutely ridiculous? We can prove that the official saw it, for a start. This is what happens when you become the pantomime villain to the media. All of the focus on that game was ludicrously biased against our players, though they did totally lose it and a number deserved to get sent off. Walker kicked out and they showed it repeatedly and analysed it over and over. Where was the focus on Fabregas when he did it about 3 minutes into the game? Dembele's behaviour was poor and he deserved a red, but Costa's should've resulted in at least 3 dismissals. Even after the elbows and the headbutt attempt, he was allowed to do whatever the hell he wanted, provoking players right, left and centre. When he held onto Walker's leg and repeatedly pulled him back when he tried to walk away, what did Clattenburg do? Totally ignored it, like he did virtually everything else in the match. The highlight for me was probably the moaning about Walker viciously bleeding on Costa. Why the **** was he bleeding in the first place? Er, no comment, apparently. What a joke.
Also can't believe Fabregas gets away with nothing with his antics of shoving his hand into everyone's face obviously trying to get Lamella sent off
Threads become very weird once you've blocked people.... Although I can probably guess who you're talking to and what he said. It was AKCJ, in the kitchen, with a 'should've been a 10 match ban'.
If they found that he did eye-gouge Costa, then 6 games is lenient. If it was just violent conduct per se without that finding, then it's 3 games. I don't think there is much sympathy for him outside Spurs TBH
Poor referee to start with. Allowed an important match to descend into a street brawl. Used the 'Wenger defence' when the video footage showed the linesman had a line of sight to the players. Did you really expect anything other than the end outcome from the FA ??
There's not a lot of sympathy for him at Spurs either, Lidls. He deserved a red card and an additional ban wouldn't be harsh either, frankly. The problem is that this isn't a consistently applied punishment and they're clearly lying to implement it.
Violent conduct is defined as excessive force or brutality. If Dembele did worse than that to his eye it's a miracle Costa appeared after half time.
Sky Sports News understands that the FA wanted to ban Dembele for 20 games, but he did not lift up his shirt to reveal a T-shirt with a slogan or non PL-approved advertisement on it.
Never once said that. Huth is very unlucky to get a 3 game suspension for a hair pull. 1 would have been more than harsh.
Huth is very lucky to get only a 3 game suspension for his antics. At least 1 more would not have been that harsh. <fixed>
