Has said he'll be with us next season 100%. Thoughts?

He's been one of our worst players this season and he'd be one i'd have let go, particularly as the fee quoted was ridiculous.

He's got high expectations from his Atletico form but he can't be as bad next season, surely?!

I thought he was excellent last season, but this season he seems to have suffered from a loss of form which hasn't been helped by injuries and suspensions. The team generally has been poor, which also hasn't helped. Personally, I think he has all the ability in the world and is still young. I would keep him unless an absolutely stupid amount of money is offered.

Getting rid of Courtois now would be madness.
He has had a bad season, yes, but so have 90% of our squad really.
He was great last season, and is very young for a goalkeeper.
Its a shame we had to dump Cech, as I felt Courtois wasn't quite at his level yet, but I understand the reasons it was done.
Cech and Courtois are both too good to be No.2s and Courtois was seen as younger and with more prospect of improvement and a long career ahead of him of more than 10-15 years, where as Cech was the finished article and had another 4-5 years at the top level, max.

But no, getting rid of Courtois would be stupid at this point.
Give him another season at least.
If we got rid of everyone who'd had a bad season this season, our squad would next season consist of just Willian on his todd really.

Agree with all this Bod. He'll be a great keeper, no question. <ok>

Too many knee jerk reactions this season. The Hazard out brigade have fallen very silent in the past couple of weeks. Yes the season has been disappointing but form is temporary, class is permanent.

Echo many of the thoughts here. He's young and shown in all bar this season how good he is. An absolute must keep.

With the right manager and some key signings / youth promotions we should be back amongst it next year no question. The squad is still fairly young and needs tweeking rather than a massive overhaul. But we do need the likes of Courtoise, Matic, Oscar, Hazard, Fabregas and Costa back to 2014/15 form.

You'd be nuts to sell Calamity Courtois.

He has to eradicate the silly mistakes from his game and become a bit more humble but there's no doubting he has all the tools to be one of the best keepers in the game.

Agreed. Just look at how ropey De Gea was in his early United days.

On that note, how embarrassing is it that a keeper has won your player of the year award 3 years in a row!?!?!?

There were a lot of United fans calling for De Gea to be sold a few years ago. I was always hopeful as I recalled a quote from Casillas about De Gea and the impact he would have on other Spanish goalkeepers: "he'll retire us all".

To be fair, De Gea would get player of the year every year at most clubs, he's that ****ing good, but it doesn't hide the fact that our outfield players have by and large been poor for too long, Tony Martial excepted this season.

De Gea is great but at a top club it should be hard to shine as much as he does. Schmeichel was also great for you but most people looked at Giggs, Cantona, Scholes etc as the top stars. I don't think De Gea would get player of the year 3 years running in those 90's sides.

True, I do think top keepers in top sides get overlooked. Neuer occasionally gets a pat on the back.

I'd keep Hazard if i thought he wanted to play for us,just don't think he does and feel his attitude is piss poor.
For me his last couple of games have been "come and get me games".I could be wrong of course<laugh>.
Reckon PSG will break the bank for him.

De Gea is a good keeper but that is ridiculous statement. Your current team is s#!t and only decent player is your goal keeper.
Edwin never won it in your club, let alone any other club.

Courtois needs more meat on his bones. I thought when he first played for us that he didn't have the robust chunky build to survive a season without getting injured. He just seems to have the wrong type of build - i.e. too thin - to be a great goalkeeper. I hope he proves me wrong.
