Woe is me at the moment! I am hoping for 4 La Liga teams to contest the finals. Only having three is just not good enough. Mind you if Liverpool win the Europa, Saints might get into the 3rd qualifying round of the EL if Manchester United win the cup and WHU finish above the Saints.
When it comes to English clubs competing in Europe I am so indifferent because a when Liverpool, Manchester United or the CHAVS win, it just results in an explosion of guys wearing these disgusting tops on our doorsteps of South Hampshire when these so-called lovers of football should be following a local team. Following Southampton is not that bad!!!
The worst thing about away goals is Alan Green explaining every new permuation with the excitement of someone who has just figured it all out in his head. We get it Alan.
Stumbled to this through a tortured happen-chance route of articles and videos. Best retro video I've seen of Ronald Koeman playing for Holland against England and the infamous foul he committed [Platt makes a right meal of it]. But it's all the better because of the Saints connections. Brother Erwin is also playing and commits his own foul. Lawrie McMenemy is assistant England manager, and Ronald scores from that superbly delicate free-kick goal. It hardly matters that the commentary is in Dutch. We all know what it means. The best part is the shot of Graham Taylor, for whom I had some sympathy at the time. But anyone who utters phrases like... do I not like that.?, either needs to soundly punched in the kisser or unfairly beaten at football. Probably the latter, but possibly both. Anyway, here it is. Great free-kick, Ronald:
If I'm not mistaken, didn't he balls up the free-kick and then the ref made them re-take it? I may be going senile on that.
They moved to play in games like they did tonight, of course winning the cup will be the icing on the cake. But nights like tonight & against Dortmund are special and why the moved to a club like Liverpool. As much as I hate to admit it, Anfield is a special place on big European nights.
Liverpool are a bigger club that's a fact. I don't blame them for wanting to go there, I just wish they went about about it a better way. The big thing for them next is does Klopp actually want them?
Haters gonna hate, Gucci. It's justified anyway, even if they don't win, Liverpool can pay more money than us.
