The thread title is nothing to do with the jacks - I was wondering who you thought might be playing their last game for City on Saturday. Who should be sold, not re-signed if they're out of contract, or for that matter even given away to get them off our books for next season? I know it'll depend on how deep Tan's pockets are - or more likely how deep he'll reach - as to any replacements, but who do you hope we've seen the last of? Is Turner worth another contract? Has Whitts passed his sell by date? Is Fabio proving too expensive for an occasional game? What about Manga? A walking disaster waiting to happen or a class player who will prove his worth? I'll start by saying Dikgacoi for definite and maybe both Slade's current fullback choices.
Stay - our first team should be built around these -Marshall, Fabio, Morrisson, Connolly, Ralls, O'Keefe, Pilks, Stay - squad players - Gunnar, Whitts, Noone, Olisajha, Declan, Harris, Adeyemi, Sell/let go - all those out on loan apart from those mentioned above, Dickachoi, both full backs, Manga, all loanees apart from Immers & Zohore...and the coaching team en masse. Buy/borrow - A couple of full backs, holding mid, wide mid & creative mid, a no. 10 & at least two decent strikers. Probably a few I've forgotten about, but apart from that not much to do in the summer, then.
Agree with most of that. Personally I would sell Manga if offered decent money. I would be happy to keep Peltier as a squad player. He is a good, reliable defensive full back, just not so great going forward. I'm not sure about keeping Declan and Oshilaja. They don't get game time for a reason. We may not know it but the club management do. Do they actually shine when out on loan at lower division clubs? Perhaps they and Healey should get a chance this Saturday? Fabio? Why hasn't he featured at all in recent games. I know there was an injury a month or so ago but then he returned on the bench once and not to be seen since. Has there been a falling out? Should be a busy summer providing Slade et al are shown the door first.
I'd sell Manga if we didn't have to lose too much on him. Marshall - His form recently suggests there wont be too many PL suitors looking to pay the amount Tan rates him at. He's one of the best in the division and worth the PL wages we pay him. Moore - keep Fabio - depends on his contract situation. I suspect he's on hefty wages and through injury and wildly random form he doesn't earn them. Peltier - I'd keep as a solid squad player Malone - If we can sell him I would but I bet we can't. Connolly - keep Morrison - keep Turner - release John - let go/sell/release Ralls - keep O keef - keep Dika - weigh in for scrap value....... Pilks - keep Noone - keep Whits - keep Gunnar - sell if the price is right and replace with a better midfielder Adeyami - sell Lex - sign him if we can Harris - sell Kennedy - sell/loan Zohore - I'd sign him Saadi - he's had 10 minutes, looked handy, now he can't get on the pitch. I suspect we're stuck with him whether we want him or not. Alf - sell Doyle - sell Macheda - ......................... Surely his contract has expired by now I hadn't realised just how much of the current squad should be or needs to be moved on. A new manager makes more sense when you consider there could be major changes to the playing staff.
I don't think you're wrong in much of that Steve but in blunt terms that means keeping or converting loans to keeps for 12 out of 26. You haven't mentioned younger players like O'Sullivan, Healey and Oshilaja.Overall hat is a major upheaval and an instant rebuild would be needed for whoever was to replace Slade. Also there would be a substantial outlay involved. If we are going to do it then the sooner it all starts the better. About 2.30 pm on Saturday seems like a good time to me. (it's a 12.30 kick off before anyone asks).
Talking of swans, I played golf there today and in the bar were swansea football beer mats Tossed them straight into the bin I don't know who's contracts are up or not but I'm going to be brutal here as we do need a big sweep out for playing and money reasons so if I'd say taxi to Malone, Fabio, Manga, Peltier, O'Keefe, Connelly, Gunnarrsson, Turner,Dikgacoi, Saadi and Noone. I'd keep Marshall (who'd have him after Saturday's disasters), John, Morrison, Whittingham, Ralls, and Pilkington. I want a new manager and coach and virtually a new squad. A decent pair of strikers is top priority.
You're quite right to suggest we won't be changing 14 players due to both the cost and complication of doing so. On the subject of cost there's a huge amount of wages to be saved if a large number of the senior ones listed can be moved on. Dika, Macheda and Alf would be on serious money and have contributed **** all. Manga and Fabio are drawing large salaries that could be better spent imo. We'll have to take losses on Doyle, Adeyami and a big one on Manga but when you consider the wages players earn sometimes it's possibly better to accept the mistake has already been made, cut your losses and move them on. We know Tan isn't afraid of that having watched the ruthless way players were shed in the aftermath of Ole. Don't be surprised if we start the season with Slade and pretty much the same players. For the record if we sign Ameobi I'll start watching the egg chasers or the ice hockey instead ...........
On the basis we have very little money to spend then - a new manager. Sign Immers and Lawrence. Sell for decent fees - Manga and Noone. Smallish fee - Malone Get rid of every striker on our books - Macheda , Le Fondre , Saaudi , Zahore , Doyle - Healy as well if hes not good enough. Id take small fees for Gunner and Peltier if we had offers otherwise they are ok for the squad. Dika can go for free . Id try and negotiate a reduced wage for Fabio otherwise he can go . Id give Turner a year. Keep everyone else. Obviously if big offers come in then we have to sell.
For the record if we sign Ameobi I'll start watching the egg chasers or the ice hockey instead ...........[img src="http://www.not606.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/augh.gif" class="mceSmilie" alt=" I'll lose the will to live if we sign him. But watching egg chasers - never!!!!
We will have a number of players that will be released at the end of the season that could do a good job for cardiff...
No thanks ive seen your side this season several times and I wouldnt take hardly any of the ones your going to keep let alone the ones you dont want. I think I could play centre half better than Fernandez.
Let's be frank, swansea got lucky again this season with such a mediocre team living off one Icelander's goals. They must be among the favourites to drop down next season; they've been punching above their weight for too long now.
In a season where we beat Manu, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, West Ham and maybe Man City next week... Not to mention we could still finish in the top 10 above Chelsea with only 1 game to play, we have apparently 'got lucky'. Yeah, alright then We sacked Monk who had clearly lost the plot and appointed a manager that has got us 27 points in 16 games. Over the course of the season that's 64 points, probably good enough for a 5th-6th place finish. Win next week and it takes our average up to 67 points, good enough for a 4th place finish. Exactly where are we getting lucky there? Jealousy never did look good on you Ninian.
there`s a strange thing happening in football these days init>>>>>>lots of racists watching from the stands ok mainly down jack land and other poor parts of the country yet still they fill thy teams with foreign imports other than that things are all good......nearly every club is owned by some rich cun.t from abroad with spiralling transfer fees huge repulsive wages and football which doesn't live up 2 its billing one fking bit>>>>>>>>but don't worry keep living in the illusion thy game is still beautiful
I hope staying in dai don't drag in with him wanting out aussie.........I can cope with dai and his child like banter but aussie ....fk that sh.it
I'd obviously noticed your form had improved, didn't realise your new man had done that well tbh. Why hasn't he been signed up for next season? Being pedantic 67 points wont earn you a 4th place finish very often (ever?) in the PL, it'll be a very poor season from the big sides if it does. In anything like a normal season 4th will require 70+, sometimes as high as 76/77. You'd be pretty much assured Europa league football which would be a very season for you guys though
