I think alongside Spurs or Sex?, is that a question btw, perhaps Spurs AND Sex. Anyway back to the matter in hand . Alongside players of the season let's acknowledge our posters of the season. Happily the Spurs forum is growing nicely and the level of debate remains as high as ever. Compare our board to other PL boards and we can stand proudly high, along with out team. We have seen a number of new posters join us and I would like to single out a couple who I think have made a huge contribution to the Spurs board. Already seasoned performers their arrival has taken our debates to even higher levels IMO Thanks for the contribution of: Citizen Kane Thanks for that Brian All of our regular posters have kept up the standard and of those I would like to mention PowerSpurs Vimhawk Both of whom often add a new slant to many of the debates. There are too many to mention and very nearly all deserve one. Please invent your own categories if you feel the need.
I literally replied to a Soton fan the other day on their Prem thread in regards to my name. Right now, it should probably just be Spurs because the latter has been pretty much non-existent since the ex split up with me . Initially though my name stems from a conversation I had with a mate five or six years back (before joining Not606). We were watching a game in the pub, was the champions league final and an absolute worldie walked by us, so my mate asked me "If you had the chance to see Spurs in a Champions League final or get a guaranteed consensual shag with any woman on the planet, what would it be?" and hence the name Spurs or Sex? was created!
Champions League final of course, a shag is a shag in my eyes I'm not picky, give me enough pints and Susan Boyle begins to look like this beaut: please log in to view this image
As for my actual choices for posters of the season, I think I'd have to agree with you Spurf and go with 'Citizen Kane' and 'Thanks for that Brian' as both have been welcomed additions to the board, added good debates along with humorous comments, while I'd also chuck 'remembercolinlee' in from the old posters group, generally find myself laughing at a number of his posts. There's not any Spurs poster on here though that I'd say wouldn't be deserving as a candidate for a poster of the season. I think the season from our players has helped in that matter as we've all enjoyed 99% of the performances and so the board has been a really positive one this season with loads of debate and great banter, certainly helps my days at work go by, **** knows what I'd do if I actually had to do my job!
Citizen Kane. He writes so beautifully. RememberColinLee for being so pessimistic in the face of so much to be optimistic about. That's class and very Spursy! The joy is that it is debate and not just name calling...This board attracts people who want to discuss football in a way that most others don't.
All of the new posters have been excellent and the older members have retained their high standard, too. Others have already been mentioned, so I'll chuck in Shark, particularly for his Glorious Failure first post: http://www.not606.com/threads/glorious-failure.308169/ You all make moderating this board incredibly easy and allow us mods plenty of opportunity to post as regular users, which is why we're here. The headaches that other people have to put up with elsewhere on the site are basically foreign to us here. Thanks to all of you, including the visitors from other boards who add some flavour and give a different perspective. Lidls is still our resident outsider, if you will, but it's nice to have a number of other regulars. A special mention for Audrey, whose ditties always make me smile on Spurf's prediction thread. Thanks to Spurf himself for running it and SpursDisciple for putting in the hard miles on his one, too.
I 'like' many of the posters on here. There is not just opinion and information, but humour, camourardery, and a huge amount of football insight and knowledge, which I for one continue to learn from, after more years as a football and sports fan than I care to remember. The quality really is high, and a number of noteworthy posters have already been identified above. For me though, Citizen Kane takes the prize. He is knowledgable, informative, humorous, and - as has been mentioned above - has a craft and talent for writing. Obviously not in the same class as most of our own, but I would also give SuckmyKlopp a minor mention as least bad WUM/ overseas supporter. Thanks to all for providing so much during the season. It's been great to be a small but usually accepted part of it on here. Look forward to more during the summer and beyond. COYS.
Agree with all that (except I don't believe CK is a new poster) but the standard on here is really good. That has to be down to PNP NKNG and Spurf who mod this forum excellently. Now is my booking rescinded
How do we get those little quips under our names? Such as SD's "Booking: Mod Abuse", I've seen others with random ones too. I want one! NOW!
The Spurs have a good balance of posters , good group when you see them around the board . I have recieved scars from them here and there around the board though but who hasn't . It's to bad when it came you're turn , Leicester did the end around on ya . Looking forward to next season already ....cheers
Thanks PNP! Now I'm not saying that the following has had any impact on our good form, but two things happened for the first time this season. Firstly I became a member of THFC, secondly, I started posting on this site... So, if someone wants to buy me a season ticket and make me a mod then... Y'know, next year is our year! Guys? Guys?....... Seriously, from a long time lurker to "active member" cheers to you all!
Aww thanks for the compliments guys it took me a while to settle on a forum after 606 collapsed into a long-overdue mercy killing, and I'm glad to have found this site. I agree that the level of debate and general intelligence/mutual respect between posters on this particular board is pretty much unique to not-606 and I'd wager the general world of football forums. A big thank you to the mods for the work they do; having witnessed firsthand the behaviour and IQ level of the mods on some of the other boards on here (selecting 3 teams completely at random; Leicester, Portsmouth and Arsenal), I'm glad we're blessed with PNP, Spurf and NKNG Poster of the year for me has to be Brian. I've felt like a comrade in arms in our 2-man war to protect the integrity of football as we defend the game from the outlandish claims and 'insights' of the Leicester mob. You've kept the fight going far longer than I managed (I've blocked most of them now ) and for that sir, I salute you I've also got a soft spot for RCL. In my mind's eye, I see him as a hybrid of the Grouch from sesame street and Edmund Blackadder; the type who could curdle milk just by talking to it. Thank you for keeping our feet firmly on the ground despite the optimism exploding all around us . Mod of the season, whilst they've all been brilliant, has to be PNP. Some of your one-liners - particularly when debating 'the relative merits of an attacking counter-attacking side who excel at defending deeply and in numbers' were utterly superb. Also a thank you is due to Spurf and SD for their brilliant predictions leagues, albeit I have managed to **** both of them up having been 2nd for most of the season (sound familiar? ) It's been a bizarre season really; being 2nd and playing the game to the level that we have, very few fans have had the opportunity to come on here on the wum. It was a weird feeling on Monday night watching all and sundry leap on the bandwagon to rub their pinch of salt into our wounds and made me realise how little I miss that aspect of the traditional forum, as it really does get in the way of intelligent debate and civilised conversation. So thank you all for a wonderful experience, some moments of genuine hilarity (that one where we started posting pictures of tea ladies was ridiculous) and top notch debate across multiple threads.
