Fair enough fats, didn't read all the posts. The rest of my post was worth an outing though........in my opinion of course.

:) as always Beddy

As someone else mentioned today and I did a few weeks back. I'd worry if he doesn't sign a new contract this summer. That could give the wrong message/signal to the players and potential players.

Daily Mirror stirring again, but if Ron was to leave in a years time Arsenal would be an upgrade for him but Everton ???
Southampton are concerned manager Ronald Koeman will not extend his contract - which has a year to run - amid interest from Everton and Arsenal. (Daily Mirror)

Just following on from the Aha post.

I think we have to put things into perspective. How many times at press conferences has a media put something speculative to Ronald and he's said... no, absolutely no truth in that [?] And he's said it as if the question is a daft one. The answer, in case the reader doesn't know, is loads of times. Just go back through the press conferences on Youtube.

However, I think during next season there ought to be a real concern that he may leave simply because people will be clamouring for him, in my opinion. Be nice if he extended his contract but, as of this moment, I'm not overly optimistic about it. I'm about 50/50.

Anybody fancy Diego Simeone as his replacement? ;)

Hopefully he doesn't leave...however Strachen said he was taking a break a few years back and wasn't staying, if you remember, and they actually replaced him a couple of months early.

One thing we do know is that the Les Reed and the Board will have every eventuality covered. I don't get the argument that Ron will be a lame duck manager next season, his reputation is at stake and I believe him to have a winner's mentality and will try his hardest to make sure we have a good season.
Three years at one club is a lifetime for a football Manager and if he feels that he wants to move on to a new project, he will go with my best wishes and gratitude for the superb job he has done for us. If he stays, then I think we will be on the cusp of becoming one of the key players in the BPL as i'm extremely optimistic that the Board want to expand the club globally.

Everton are a bigger club then us. Everton also have a better team then us. It's just Martinez has failed big time with managing the players. The right manager going in and adding one or two players is all it would take.

If you combined our two teams, you'd serious have more Everton players?

It's a close-run thing, but their top-level talent is better than our top-level talent, IMO. I have always liked Martinez, but their zeal for getting players forward this season verged on suicidal at times, particularly as they weren't bereft of attacking quality.

A lot of their squad is overrated. Personally, I wouldn't be happy to swap.

Lots of IFs here, but should Sunderland be relegated, and should we not be able to dissuade a [rather daft at times] mighty Kenyan that the grass is not always greener elsewhere, how about Jan Kirchhoff as an option. Has looked very impressive since Allardyce got him in. I'm sure Sunderland would be very happy to make a big profit.

Is this a credible rumour, no sources!! I agree thought that he would be a good acquisition, not sure how mobile he is though.

Lame duck is perhaps the wrong choice of words, but I firmly believe (as evidenced lots of times I the past) that if it is clear he is going, then the players can be effected. Likely their performance will be. This is where the difficulty will be. It could also have an effect on players we may want to sign. I am not saying 'will' (for those watching in black and white only) but 'could'

Hell of a risk for Saints in the plans.

Lukaku doesn't run around as much as Long.

7 from Saints and 3 from Everton. Something's not quite right there...
