One of NZ's 300 year-old mysteries solved. HMS Endeavour wreck found in harbour at Newport, Rhode Island, USA. She'd been sold off to a private owner, re-named after the Earl of Sandwich, and later scuttled in American War of Independence. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/795...-been-found-but-New-Zealands-mysteries-remain. Hope it's of interest.
Well, fresh from winning the Australian A League Cup (looks more like a toilet seat incidentally) they have issued a Challenge to Leicester City to play them here in Oz. Also, their leading goalscorer, Bruce Kamau, has signed for Melbourne City for next season.
You might like to know that ex-England, Leeds, Sunderland and Hull City Striker, Michael Bridges is still 'kicking' here in Oz. He came over and played for Newcastle Jets, retired, came back (because they were short of players) and then took up an administrative post and hung his boots up again. However, after 2 years he had a 'blue' with the owners and left and is back playing for a 'bush' soccer team in New South Wales going by the name of (wait for it) Lambton Jaffa's!. Michael, who really warmed himself to the fans out here because of his promotion work together with his gorgeous wife, has ALL of the badges required for Club Management so I would expect him to enter that field in the near future.
We also have Tommy Sorenson playing for Melbourne City, which is owned by Man City. Only one team in NZ and they are based in Wellington, but we did have one in Auckland but it was so underfunded it just did not last despite getting some good crowds when they first started out.
Bridges was a class act, unfortunately he was another Mag through and through, shame about his career it never really took off due to injuries, and moving to Leeds United was the final straw for me.
