Last season and early this season he looked a real player, he now seems to have regressed quite a bit.
Only want to keep players that go through a wall..be it learning or fitness. He has the attributes but this year he hasn't had the mentality. He's young but if you think you're ready enough for first team to the point you want a move for not getting on then you need to show a hell of a lot more than 4 or 5 initial games promise at a top team. A pacey forward can't "disappear" like he has in games....
He was very much like Sterling when he broke into he team. First came in, he was new, fresh, exciting, no fear. Then he hit that wall and like 90% of young players, his form dipped when expectation on him to perform increased. Sterling then went away and came back again... so far Ibe hasn't managed to come back and reach the levels again. He looks a bit lost, possibly not quite knowing what his role in the team was. I think that's where Sterling had the edge, Rodgers did brilliantly but not just soving him out on the wing, he took the bold step of bringing him in the middle and he developed his game in that 10 role, but admittedly was linking up with far superior players. Ibe hasn't developed that link up when he comes inside yet.. he can, but at the moment, he's very much like a Lennon or Navas and just stuck wide using his pace. If he can develop that intelligence and ability to cut in and link up with forwards and midfielders then he could reach that potential.
Young Celtic LB Tierney being linked with few teams after playing whole season for Celtic this year. Always tricky with players from Scotland... You could get a Wanyama, or could get a Gary Hooper.
Trying to think of players who have attempted to make the transition from Scotland (Celtic in particular) into the PL over the last few years. Forster, Van Dijk and Wanyama have all been successes. Ledley has been pretty good for Palace, so has Ki for Swansea/Sunderland. Hooper was a bit of a bust, so was Samaras (but we knew that already). Hooiveld was a disaster. Southampton seem to have the best idea whether they can make the cut or not, maybe we should wait until they try and sign someone from there then swoop in and steal the deal
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has offered Udinese £12m for midfielder Piotr Zielinski, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. - Higher than expected.
Ibe was rated higher than Sterling by a lot of fans, but seems to have stalled. It appears that once he had a few first team games he thought "that's it, made it, no need to try now" Not what Klopp looks for in a player
I think yes... i don't know what he's at but he has more height, power, pace, better shot more tricks but he seems to have totally lost direction. He really doesn't get what is being asked of him. Sterling on the other hand seems to understand the ask... but just ****s up the technical aspect constantly... misses the target constantly.
Liverpool will listen to offers this summer for winger Jordon Ibe, 20, with Watford, Arsenal and Tottenham all interested.(Squawka)
