Anyone use it? I'm always looking for some new artists or good songs so if you use Spotify post up your username here and I'll follow your playlists. @Skylarker* @organic red @UTR's I'm luvgonzo as usual on there.
I don't use it mate, but most of the new stuff I hear about comes from either word of mouth or through 6 music which I listen to a fair bit
You should give it a go mate, it's a great app for music along with Soundcloud which I've also started using.
@Tobes The only difference between the paid and unpaid version is there is an obligatory 30 second/1 minute advert every hour or so. It's as brilliant app, I don't have a playlist as such but i favourite songs from the vast catalogue of tunes and keep them in my account.
The free version is fine at home on the wi fi, premium if you use it out and about. I just use the free version. There's a huge amount of content and then you can follow users and playlists.
If you want free music offline then Google music is a good one, radio apps Tune In Radio stands out there.
I use Spotify and paid for Premium for years, then decided to cancel it, and the only difference is that every half hour, you get a 30 second advert. Not really worth paying £10.00 to miss that
The only useful part of premium is that you can listen to your tracks offline. If Spotify dropped the cost to lets say £5 then I'd go for it but £10 is too much.
I have to say that spotify free has been one of the biggest killers of itunes. every teenager is using spotify free. nobody should be paying for a premium service that is so.... non premium. As you know i've no interest so don't even have spotify free on my phone.
oh and 3/4 years ago the lads were downloading off youtube and ripping mp3s out for free music for their DJ business here but they've given that up. Honestly piracy of music is dead due to spotify.
Yup I used to illegally download all my Mp3, first from Napster, then Bear Share, then Kazaa. Spotify has killed piracy, which is a good thing, because Spotify actually pay artists to have their music.
I think yeah its a good thing. Itunes was really annoying. the different format. the control over your music and then the fait a complet their switch to streaming breaking everyones bought music so they could no longer find THIER property. For me the only real benefit of apple is the seemless connections. My Samsung is REALLY annoying with manual syncing rather than auto connect to outlook. anyway for music i don't use either but have stuck to mp3 format.
I agree, the industry sort of got the message. Give us something for a fair price and we'll stop downloading. Same with TV Netflix is a normal price so I don't need to download. There will always be some who will continue but I imagine illegal downloading has declined with the introduction of these servicves at a normal price.
Apple are just ****s. The way all their products have their own music and movie formats, so you cannot just download stuff and put it on your phone/tablet, unless it is **** purchased from Itunes. They monopolise and want to own every single piece of data that goes through their devices, which is insidious as ****. Android kicks its arse in every conceivable sense, in price, user friendliness, compatability, everything
yeah.... well apple sort of took the top end off with the "cheap" cost of a song but spotify really killed it. However theres no money in the free streaming for anyone. The music industry has to realise "music" is not the main industry and the simon cowells and easy one shot fame merchants need to **** off and let the real artists back in. The song is the route to filling the gig, selling the merchandise.... not getting your face known. For too long turds like beyonce have got away with putting **** out, getting nowhere in the charts and then piling on the cheap perfumes and ****. Even adele.. that paragon of virtue.... has realised to make money she has to do more than phone it in.
It's been at a fair price (imo) for a long time I pay £7.49 and can connect 2 devices at a time. I think that's ok. The fact that I can also just turn it off for a month if I'm on holiday or something is also appealing to me. Contect wise it also suits me more than the brain dead films on Sky.
yes it has but will the install base allow continued development? Is the price being propped up by increasing install base? Look at sky. its stagnated around the same sort of install base for years and has actively made it more and more expensive thus not driving install base at all. They charge for hd, for skygo plus, for broadband, for downloads, for their new box set part, for this sky Q, for sports, for movies... etc etc... I think its now got a whole 12 mil in Uk... if it was not changing so much it'd be in every house by now IMO. they are a huge rip off.
