Good to see the spirit of the GPO still lives within 21st century BT. :)

  2. Would agree with much of that - especially the final sentiment. However, for all his good efforts, Rose was also guilty of head-losing on several occasions as well. Toby was at fault for both goals and whilst he was his normal self in the first half, even he lost his shape and discipline in the 2nd half. Just hope hes not too badly hurt from that **** Costa's challenge late in the game - which didn't even get a foul!!!!

What disappointed me most was the naivety, not only of most of the players, but also the management. Poch has had a fantastic season, but at key times he has made some strange calls and on this occasion either he was guilty of having wound the players up so tight that they almost literally exploded, or his attempts to calm things down at half time fell on deaf ears in the dressing room. Either option is not good.
We were 2 - 0 up having played some super football and whilst maybe lucky to still have a full compliment on the pitch, were in a great position to close the game down. Instead we came out without the same forward momentum and too many players trying to mix it. That was unprofessional and immature and whilst we have a 'young' squad, there were some seasoned internationals and a national captain out on that pitch!

And its not like this is a one-off. If there has been any criticism of Poch and the lads this year it has been (1) the failure to see games out from winning positions - notably the Chavs and Goons and (2) a couple of times when they have clearly lost their way in the 2nd half.

As far as the aggro is concerned, I am all for us not giving an inch to the opposition, but that was just brainless. We could have easily ended the game with 7 players as Dembele, Lamela, Walker and Dier should all have been sent off. They were cleverer than us and a card count of 9 -0 says it all, as it wasn't all down to the officials. Clusterfuck got it wrong - big time - although you could perhaps understand what he was possibly trying to achieve at the start. However, his failure to deal with the Chavs off the ball **** and their constant surrounding and complaining undoubtedly stirred it all up.

The season is not over and the players that are available for the last games need to get us over the line in 2nd. Letting the Goons capture that spot at this stage is not an option. And the Chavs encounters next season promise to have some spark!!!

That was an unbelievably hostile environment in the stadium last night and whilst I do agree with your comment about our players showing some immaturity, this was an atmosphere they have never experienced before. It was seriously different from anything I have come across in many years. So much so, that even an experienced pro footballer might well have lost it out there last night.

Remember the Martin Keown and Van Nistelrooy scenes a few years ago ? Proof that even the experienced men can lose it at times.

And did the ref do anything from minute 1 to ensure that "environment" did not seep onto the pitch ??
    IMHO no.

I am wondering why Chelsea are so jealous of Spurs.I mean, they've been able to buy so many trophies in the past years via the Russian oil money, while we have pretty much sat back and watched it all.
On top of all that,we have been a soft touch for them in the past and now we have a contender theydon't like it.
Yellow cards or not. Chelsea have been stiring up the crap against Spurs.......and you can only take so much.
Being nasty, for once!!!?,I would have been quite happy to see a certain couple of Chelsea players carried off with Chelsea flags stuck up their backsides!

As a postscript.......well done Leicester. Your defence lasted better than ours.Too many late goals costs you in the end and it did to us.

Overall,it's been an enjoyable season. The football Spurs played most of the time took me back many years.........long may it last.

    COYS!

  6. No-one is immune - I accept that, OS - and I can only imagine the intensity at SB last night. But we managed to control it (somewhat) for times the first half to get the upper hand. The break should have seen order restored, but instead we lost it completely. Thats where the management and coaching staff have to step in.
Would be interesting to have heard the HT teamtalk......

It started to go wrong for Clattenburg when he failed to give a yellow card to Ivanovic for his high assault on Danny Rose. Can't remember what minute that was, but it was early on.

Tottenham left-back Danny Rose, who was involved in the clash with Willian that prompted head coach Mauricio Pochettino to race on to the pitch, apologised for the actions of both sets of players.

“It is not nice to see for kids here or kids watching on TV, I apologise if it looked bad on TV,” said Rose. “It is a London derby. It is to be expected. We wanted to win and they wanted to stop us having any more say in the title race.

    1. True Spurs class. <applause>

    2. It is NOT to be expected.
There was nothing at stake for Chelsky other than people no longer thinking their club
are scum from top to bottom.

Talk of Spurs getting fined for coin-throwing at Hazard, but no mention of action against him for celebrating in front of the Spurs fans....
If I recall, when VDV scored the penalty at the Library a few years ago, he was booked for only running past the Gooners behind the goal to get to the Spurs fans....
With all those cards flying about, you would think this would have warranted one?

That Telegraph report has some interesting comments in it as well....... Cahill (like Terry, unbelievably) and Rose trying to put things in perspective. Bit late for that methinks!!! :emoticon-0146-punch:emoticon-0181-fubar<sorry>:emoticon-0121-angry:emoticon-0127-lipss:emoticon-0183-swear

The only one that springs to mind for me is Arsenal in 1997-8, but that was more to do with their fixture backlog than Sky meddling with the kickoff times.

The schedulers at £ky must be absolutely delighted with last night, making us play catch up for the last 3 games .
Would the results have been the same if the tables were turned ?
Congratulations to Leicester and the £ky £ports

Costa could've gone three times over for stuff against Vertonghen alone.
He threw his elbow twice and put his head in too, which is presumably what upset Dembele so much.
Doesn't excuse the Belgian's stupid behaviour, but probably illustrates how badly Clattenburg misjudged the tone of the game.

Our players clearly lost their heads last night and it needs to be addressed, as we'll face the same tactics again next season.
Teams are going to try and provoke them, needle them and kick them up in the air. That's just the way it is.
When the opposition try to turn every foul into a fight, the players need to learn how to avoid getting involved.

I agree that Clattenburg was at fault. My concern is that most of the Chelsea issues were in keeping with their character (lots of over reaction, winding the Spurs players up, verbal and cynical niggly stuff) but our infringements were blatant. Walkers kick on Pedro for example was so unnecessary, it focuses the refs attention on us and we weren't going to hide. The vitriol from the media is over the top but i think we were naive, continuing to foul when Hazard was on the pitch and all of a sudden running the game. I've never really seen that from a Spurs side before. Channeling that aspect of our game can be a real benefit but they (obviously) lack the experience now and that was exposed yesterday.

<laugh> might as well get fined for it, we'll be fined for the excessive bookings plus there's the inevitable bans for some of our lads, the FA might as well make it a hat trick for the fun of it.

Nacer also got booked last season when he put his finger to his mouth after scoring.

I'm going to take a Leicester fans' approach and start claiming of an agenda against us.

Can you remember when Chelsea were known as a football team? No! Neither can I.
I would loved to have seen them perform their mouthy attitude against that old Wimbledon team. Not many would have been going home......

i think they won't be keen to **** around with our team much in the future either Smithy. Im happy to take the bans and fines etc..I wouldn't have been happy if we got bullied.

Let's get these 2 points we need and then we can look ahead to next year and another great season from our boys.
