Nah, everything keeps going our way. All the results. And that penalty at the weekend? It was a sign. I for one would be surprised if we went down now. Spurs have nothing to play for. As if Kane wants to get injured in the last game before the euros. Everton will probably beat a hungover Leicester and they're playing for their manager and after a poor season have a point to prove, same goes for Chelsea. Everton will beat both Mackems and Norwich after coming off 2 wins against Bournemouth and Leicester. They'll probably finish top half even. Same goes for Watford really, they too have had a poor run but recently looked way more up for it after their managers job was brought into question. Me thinks Norwich and Mackems might get 2/3 points, not more. And I actually think we'll stay up regardless what happens on the final day if we somehow miraculously beat Villa. I can see Everton ending the season with 4 wins, pipping Stoke to 10th, finishing in the top half. They've had a strange season Everton but they're a good side with quality players and that always tells in the end.
We can't afford to get dragged into thinking that Spurs have nothing to play for. They will be desperate to finish second and, probably more important to many of their fans, finish above their bitter rivals Arsenal. I'll be praying that they beat Southampton this weekend and that either Arsenal and City draw or City win as their GD is nowhere near as good as Spurs'. Perhaps then they will have only pride to play for. Then again, last night showed that their young squad can struggle under pressure (we know what that is like) and maybe we should be hoping they do have something to play for.
We need 6. And the odds on us getting them are slim but not zero. Mackems will get 5 or 7 points from their remaining fixtures. Can't see them losing any of them, so even if they only win one of three we still need 6 points to stay up. I think that late penalty vs Stoke might keep them up. That being said, I've actually enjoyed watching Newcastle play football over the last few weekend, which is an experience I've not had in a while. If we get 4 points from our last two fixtures and go down swinging then I'll look forward to the championship with more hope than I had three weeks ago.
Arsenal still play ManCity. Spurs will beat Southhampton and will have 2nd locked down. Deservedly, they've been great this season too. Mackems have won 7 (of those one against us and Norwich and Villa) games all season, what makes people think they'll suddenly win 2/3 and draw the other. Against Chelsea and Everton and Watford away. They've been winning 1 game in 7 against non bottom 3 opposition. Hell, Mackems even worse than us. Had we not lost to Norwich and drew to Villa at home we'd never been in this **** to begin with.
yes but we have both been **** all season and the only difference now is you are on a slightly better run than us. I don't know how its going to end up but the only thing i believe is that it will be decided on the last day of the season. i just hope that Villa decide to turn up for once and win a bloody game, now that result would upset the apple cart.
I am praying it doesnt come down to the last day of the season and If it does, hopefully we will be in the position where we just need a draw! I Really hope Chelsea and Everton play to the best of their ability against you and Man U and Everton again against Norwich, if the oppo turn up in those 4 games then Norwich and Sunderland are down!
I think all the teams we both have to play will be up for it, only disappointing thing for me is the weakened team that spurs will have and that is down to poor discipline letting Chelski get in their heads. I will be happy with a point v Chelski, love for us to beat Everton and a draw at Watford. Norwich play Watford then Everton so hoping they kick Watford off the park and Watford retaliate getting their entire front line sent off. I think you will beat Villa and still lose to Spurs. Barmy all this predicting stuff, just know its gonna be nail biting last day for both of us.
Who the f**k knows what is going to happen...We have been playing well and drawing and played crap at Stoke and drew. Chavski in the 2nd half against Spuds were very good..Hazard looked very good and in recent seasons he has beaten us on his own. Vile need to show their fans they are not completely useless? Who the f**k knows..it will all unfold in due course
You think we will get a point against Chelsea, think again, they were on fire last night and Hazard is just that, in the mood he was in, unplayable. But I doubt you will get four points either, so its all in the mix, you are ahead and thats a great situation to be in, squeaky bum time, he doesnt know what its like.
All I think is if NUFC build on the momentum and win both games, that will be enough. Despite games in hand, I think it's Newcastle's to lose now.
I don't think it's likely the Mackems will get 3 points against Everton, they are better playing away than at home, and the Mackems are pretty wretched at home. Plus Everton got back to winning again at the weekend and may be over the bad spell now. On last night's form, Chelsea would tear them a new one, and Watford are hardly push overs either. Of course anything can happen...but why do people expect the Mackems to get 7 points from the last 3 games, when they've only won 2 of the last 10?
See I might well turn out to be wrong, but usually one team puts together a run and gets out of it. Leicester last year, and this year there's only one team putting a run together.
Sure others will have said similar but 3 points off Villa is all I'm interested in, past that is inconsequential. All this talk of the final match day is a bit premature - we could be relegated, we could be safe, we could need a draw, we could need a win, it may not be in our hands at this point - I guess that is why it is such "hot topic" but for me all that matters is Saturdays game. What I will say is it will be easier to get a result vs spurs if we get three points off Villa with a bit of momentum and confidence appearing again.
I'll start worrying again when we get 0 points on Saturday and Mackems get 3. Until then I'm fairly relaxed. If we do win and Norwich and Mackems fail to, I'm going to call it all over.
Chelsea only put that muh effort in because they wanted to stop Spurs. I cant see them being anywhere near as good, but do think Sunderland will Nick a draw.
But at the same time Chelsea are hardly giving points away under Hiddink, before those 2 defeats, they hadn't lost at all in the league since he joined in October, and they quickly got back on track after the setback. It's not just a case of "ah we've stopped Spurs, now back to the drugs and hookers", Chelsea will definitely go for Sunderland. Sunderland will have to drastically up their game from Saturday if they want anything like a point, they were outplayed by a very average Stoke side, and a point against Chelsea is a long way off.
I can't feel confident about the villa game at all though. By the law of averages they have got to win at some point. I think id just rather skip the weekend this week. It's gonna stress me right out.
