Old Henry (Ford) stated that anyone buying his T Model could have any colour they liked as long as it was Black! (True!).
I visited the Ford Dagenham plant as a student in the late 50's and before a tour of the plant we were given a brief history of the company starting with the Model T Ford. Model T's were built until 1914 in various colours until the introduction of the continuous assembly line in 1914 when black was chosen because it dried quicker than other colours and only black was used for the next 10 years or so. I also remember hearing a bit back from Clarkson on QI that when production started in the UK blue was the favoured colour among others.
