Thought he was meant to be one of us, he had an absolute mare last night. He could have sent off at least four Spurs players for violent conduct. How he didn't see Dier's challenge at the end is beyond me. Dembele will get a ban after his attempted eye gouging on Costa. Walker and Rose were walking the tightrope with mad challenges. Clattenburg
It was a cracking game which was all the more tastier for the dirtiness involved. I didn't want it to end because Spurs would have more players injured and definitely more banned <despite Clattenburg's ineptitude>
****k Big Sam mate. Spurs had nine players yellow carded last night...a record for the premier league.
Rose and Willian clashed on the touchline, Pochetino dived in to split them up...I nearly pished myself. The linesman was shyte as well, he missed loads.
He was doing alright then at the end just lost the plot. If he'd sent ONE off, the rest would have calmed down. The FA will bring disrepute charges on Spurs, Lamela and Dembele will both get violent conduct and Eric Dier may also get punished. Well, I say that - a lot of this hinges on the FA's ability to be a remotely competent organisation.
I genuinely wonder how much it was in his head that the headlines wouldn't have been "Clattenburg Sends Off Spurs Players" but would have been "Newcastle Fan Clattenburg Sends Off Spurs Players"? I don't for one second think he did anything deliberately, but wonder if subconsciously his determination to be balanced actually made him go too far the other way. Having said that, there was so much going on yesterday that he really needed far more support from his assistant refs, and even then would have needed eyes in the back of his head.
I thought he could have done us more favours but as a game in isolation I thought it was great fun. Good old fashioned filth, you can't whack it.
