Still giving lessons to gentleman Joe, red Ding looking good so far today, possibly going to go all the way this game.
**** me Red, a 131? I managed 36 once when the Reds had fallen nicely. I don't think I've beaten 20 since
Thanks guys... That break was in practice, ive had a lot of them, over 100 now, lost count without being big headed about it, but In competition my highest is 114 which I am very proud about... Saying that I do know a few of the local pros and if you don't have a 147 on your practice cv let alone in a match then your not a pro...!! I missed the 12th black after potting the first 12 reds and i'll openly admit it my arse fell through the floor trying to get onto the next red...!! I'm nowhere near as good as I was but there is some serious talent out there on the green baize and it's such a hard sport that it's very hard to stay anywhere near the top for any length of time. If the Dings n Selbys of this world came down to your local and played you would be amazed at how good they really are... It's one of those sports where nearly everyone has had a go at once in a while, just like pool and darts really, and we can all say we hit a 100 once or even a 180 at darts, dished up the balls off the break at pool etc, but the pros of these sports are just different gravy, they really are...
It was Ron... I have had a 107 total clearance of 10 reds & 10 blacks and all the colours on a 3/4 size table - it was an 8 foot x 4 foot table, which is the maximum for 10 reds table... Again that was many moons ago now...
Yeah... My missus gives up trying to see me through Sept to April, I have to take her out now shopping, just like Cyc...
Predictions for tonight: Camera pans to Selby's wife Vicky and Denis Taylor says "oh, and there's Vicky, looking on nervously, not as nervous as Mark is though" before going on to tell us he beat her in a round of golf one day and she plays pool a lot. When Ding wins a frame Denis will tell the viewers how massive this is for all those people watching in China. Ken Doherty to say the word fractions at least 3 times. ..."WHERE'S THE CUE BALL GOING" Hopefully it goes the distance, may the best man win.
Ding's body language is really poor. Looking resigned to defeat. Come on man, bloody world final, perk up!
He is a fine player but I have to agree with your summation. If everyone played like him the game would be unmarketable.
Very talented no denying that but mind numbing to watch. I find it difficult to like or admire someone who plays and wins like that, I hate it when you play someone or watch someone and its safety safety safety!
Ding again really should have nailed that second frame of the session, but didn't and Selby came in and cleaned up (as per the script). I was being somewhat tongue in cheek with my Zzzzzelby gag but from a purist point of view you can't fault his ability over the longer frames or matches. Still want Ding to win but can't criticise Zzzzzelby too much. Loves the long match formats. He is a tad slow I suppose. Can't see him doing 'a Spieth', but hopefully Ding can peg him back a bit more so we get some late drama...
That was cool snooker at the finish by Mark Selby. Seems like a nice bloke to me. Really proud moment for the City of Leicester, two big champions in short order, bang - bang!
Yeah, Smokey, but so are all these Irish hossrace winners........ please log in to view this image (Now, now, before I get bombarded with assorted Irish dairy products, just kidding, honest!).
Selby was never for getting beat there, just kept finding more and more. A proper stayer! Ding's start killed him. He was always playing catch up and Selby isn't the sort to gift you easy frames back. Double world champion
