You read my mind. I was about to post exactly that. I think a combination of actions are best, but I really do think those areas are where the bigger gains are to be made, especially with the limited time available. As you suggest, it doesn't have to be limited to board members, but include the wider financial community involved in City.
Hull City only has two directors, they're Assem and Ehab, I don't think targetting people who fund the club but have nothing to do with the scheme is all that helpful. Dave Kilburn has the ear of the Allams and could potentially have a word, but he didn't last time and he's in the process of flogging MKM anyway.
Having not renewed last season I've no membership pack to check my question...... Wasn't one of the different Earn Your Stripes levels access to away tickets?? Could they prevent non members access simply by not putting them on general sale?
They'll get priority, as pass-holders do now, but unless we get promoted, there'll be very few games where we'll sell out, so they'll still go on general sale. The three stripe membership, which includes all away games, simply replaces the current Away Direct scheme.
It's not clear if buying a matchday ticket means you are a member in some way, shape or form, but they are likely to prioritise members before non-members.
Don't they have people that pay for some club title, without having any say in the running of the club?
Pete Chapman is Honourary President, but it's a fairly meaningless title, he doesn't actually control anything (other than trying to convince the Allams something is a good idea). Several of the main sponsors are also given Vice President titles, but again it's symbolic, they don't actually get any say in the running of the club.
Aye, I think there's a few that have bought titles. I have no idea what they do for money, but if it's a business, some sort of "naming and shaming" is perhaps an option to explore.
No but we make it uncomfortable for them. So its a boycott of SCIENTIFIC LABORATORY SUPPLIES I'll never use them again
Not a criticism, but I noticed that, Chazz, differentiated between Trust members and Hull City Fans, can't we think of them all as Hull City Fans? Regarding the sponsors, you would need to be insane to believe they do not closely monitor the club's PR developments. Corporate is more complex, as it could be a rich private individual or a business tool - you have to ask whether or not guests should be brought into club squabbles. The recent full page advertisement in the local HDM was excellent. How about a full page in a national? Something simply stated, focussing on the concessions. One of the Nationals may be supportive, all of the sponsors and local businesses could be approached for endorsements. Has any comment been made by the FSF?
Perhaps it doesn't need any specific action against the money ones? Perhaps a few reasonable questions asking their views and opinions on the scheme, and how they would feel if they were caught in in a boycott of their products could be enough to sway some? It's a tightrope, because the club needs to survive.
I dont think anybody will feel they have to attend to secure a potential Final ticket. I'll personally leave it a few days before purchasing mine if we get there.
I can see what you're saying, but it could be argued that if they feel the scheme is a good idea, it gives them the opportunity to say why they're backing it, and why any potential boycott would be unjust. I'm not suggesting any of this happens, it's just bouncing ideas, because something needs to be done, and soon.
I have every confidence the Trust are doing all that they can. It is the club that has set the agenda and it puts a volunteer organisation under much pressure. I would be interested in what, if anything, the OSC are doing to represent their membership. It also amuses me that the Trust is now being invoked by some who didn't have a good word to say about it. Using any change in leadership as the reason would be poor, even though it has been done to death on here.
My understanding is that the OSC are a non-political, social organisation, so in that respect they'll do nothing. I doubt they'll comment at all. The politics side falls to the trust. Yep, the club have created the situation, and fans can only react. As for my view, check back as far as you like, I've always said I'm in favour of a strong trust. A fair few of the perceptions aimed at me are other people's words, not mine. Some seem to create a non-question to something they've created an answer to. As long as it amuses them, there's no real harm, unless they clutter discussions up with it. As far as this thread goes, the trust have asked for the opinion and suggestions of all fans, not just trust members. I have criticised them before for not doing this, so it shouldn't be a shock if I respect the call when they do. I think it's a good call, and would hope suggestions would be the focus, rather than any real or imagined personal issues.
I think that the OSC should bite the bullet here. Despite their own members being, in the majority, against the name change the OSC backed the club by their lack of action. This anti-membership scheme is, I believe, a far worse threat to the club that even the name change was .......... time for the OSC to man up on this subject and combine forces with the trust. They can go back to being pacifists and neutrals once the Allams have sailed off into the distance.
